In this day and age, I don't think anyone over the age of 70 has a shot, much less Ron Paul.
I am not sure I would go so far as to say, no one over 70, but pushing 80 is a totally different thing. Right now the age thing has not been an issue as the media and the main stream Republican party is not taking his run seriously, but if, by some chance he were to get the nomintation his age would be a huge issue. Every time he even hesitated about an answer or had to back track (which he does from time to time like all candidates) he would be torn to shreads.

He is just as old as Reagan was when he was elected to his second term... I guess Reagan was too old too
One of the more refreshing things about Ron Paul is that a good many of his supporters don't actually agree with everything the man stands for. What they do agree on is that our system is heading south and people are pretty fed up with empty promises, double speak and the piles of bovine excrement the front runners are trying to feed them.
For the first time in quite a long time, many folks are putting aside all their side issues and ancillary concerns and demanding that their meat and potato issues are addressed. Be they old world traditional conservatives, libertarians, moderate democrats, fiscal republicans, or even the ticked off anti-war left, there is only one person who is even willing to address the most important issues at hand.
In case no one has been paying attention, the war IS the main issue this season, with growing concerns on our economic health. These two issues will be what pushes Paul to the front as he is the only one current on the side of the majority of the American people.
Does he have a chance? Of course he does. If it isn't as a republican it WILL be as an independent. Your fooling yourself if all the people who support him are just going to let him fade away. The pressure for an independent run will be too great, and we all can see that the financials don't seem to be a problem.
Great let him run as an independent and let him siphon off votes from the Republican nominee.
If he did win he would never be able to push his agenda through; it's unlikely the Republicans would get a fillibuster proof majority in the Senate, and even if they did he'd be lucky to get the support of half the Republicans. Probably just Randy.

Actually he is siphoning off leftists who are POed about the warmongering ways of your guy Obama...guess those idealistic peaceniks didn't actually realise Obama was simply telling them what they wanted to hear and had no intention of following up on it.
No, he has no chance in Hell. By December, he will have blown his wad and won't have the money to campaign for the primaries.
No,he has had the money in the past...and his money comes from actual people, not corporations.
