it is as simple as that. the hard road for him would be winning the party nomination, because we still have a lot of neocon republicans out there, in direct opposition to fiscal conservative republicans. some neocon republicans (and clearly neolib democrats, as we are witnessing now with obama aggression) make money off wars, and some are sincere in their fear and anger after 9-11.

there are a group of republicans and democrats who really feel threatened by muslim aggression and think that we need to be over there "dealing with it". unfortunately, that group has yet to be able to tell me why we don't close our borders down if we are so unsafe. why wouldn't we have keep bin laden's family under surveillance after 9-11? there are a lot of unanswered questions out there.

instead, we are spreading ourselves out and squandering our DIMINISHING resources and literally rendering ourselves less powerful if we would ever need to defend ourselves. we only need to look at russia to see how that ends.

the commander in chief that we have now is clearly not going to stop hostile actions to other countries:

WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - The United States is rejecting demands from Pakistani officials that American personnel abandon a military base used by the CIA to stage drone strikes against suspected militants, U.S. officials told Reuters.

U.S. personnel have not left the remote Pakistani military installation known as Shamsi Air Base and there is no plan for them to do so, said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, who asked for anonymity to discuss sensitive material.

"That base is neither vacated nor being vacated," the official said. The information was confirmed by a second U.S. official.

The U.S. declaration that drone operations in Pakistan will continue unabated is the latest twist in a fraught relationship between security authorities in Washington and Islamabad, which has been under increasing strain for months. (end reuters)

i wonder how we would react if a country came onto our land, set up operations, and refused to stop when asked to.
