the thing that makes a difference to me is: he was a Republican, but even then to the left of most Republicans, so I just don't think there is much to his supporting a Democrat or much to how he feels about the Tea Party and remember I am not a Tea Party supporter either. I think, in the beginning they had their place and were united for a good cause, I think they are going off the deep end right now. I certainly do not support Cruz, even though I like some of his ideas.

He wasn't to the left of most Republicans. He was generally middle of the pack as far as the GOP goes when he was in the Senate. Lifetime ACU rating was 79. Now I would agree he is to the left of most Republicans in the Senate, but that has more to do with the current GOP going so far right.
