All of you are insinuating that Oprah is a racist... well, if you grew up black in Mississippi you might be a bit racially preferenced, too.

Oprah is a smart woman and most people do not give her the credit she deserves. Her male critics find her easy to dismiss because they don't watch daytime TV. She is not pursuing the Vice Presidency, that's completely ridiculous. She's pitching for Obama because she likes Obama, not because she hates Hillary. Hillary has plenty of big-monied supporters, lots of rank-and-file old guard Democrats supporting her (unions and union workers, African-American leaders, businesses, etc.) and Obama so far just has alot of white creative class, mostly male backers and needs somebody to come out and say it's OK to vote for him, especially women and blacks who so far have been favoring Hillary. I'm sure that appeals to Oprah's sense of fairness and justice.

Saturday night live did a great skit on her with julia roberts and john travolta, they nailed it!
I missed the Saturday Night Live skit.

I would think that most men don't know anything about her because they don't watch daytime TV and the Oprah Winfrey Show. It would be like asking if most women dislike the analysts on ESPN. . . most women wouldn't have much of an opinion because they aren't really familiar with them. BTW I am not an Oprah watcher or fan. Just wondering.

But I do think Oprah may influence women to vote for him-women that watch her show, who are undecided, or on the fence. I don't think she will influence any conservative women. Just women who may have previously voted for "The Clintons."
You know, that is a good question...why men dislike Oprah yet, as you say, know little about her.

Let me answer for me, ok?

I saw her in The Color Purple and liked the way she portrayed her character so it's not that I think she cannot act.

I am not and never have been a racist so that isn't it.

I am not a male chauvinist and would vote for the right woman to be President...Liddy Dole comes to mind here...so that's not it.

I don't mind that she is backing Obama as she has backed white candidates...and Obama is a helluva lot better than Billary.

What then??????? I guess it's just a male gut feeling that she has hidden agendas and plays women to the max.

I hope my response was at least entertaining if not enlightening.

I think that she has had a long personal relationship with the Obama family and she knows them well and that she honestly thinks that he would be the best choice.

That is very likely true. She is from Illinois after all & probably does know the Obamas.

She has said that she has never backed any other candidate, white or any other color.

It would probably apply to white folks who experienced racial discrimination, second class citzenship, denial of voting rights and denial of access to public accommodations based on their race growing up in Idaho in the fifties.
