Nope, if we are going to allow equal rights to marry it should be for everyone no matter who they are. It's not up to us to decide that if relatives of the opposite sex want to marry they can't because a deformity might result from a pregnancy. What about two males cousins or two female cousins that want to marry? It wouldn't be an issue then. It is you that keeps moving the goal posts.
You were the one bringing up other "oppressed marriages" NOT me. I was replying to them despite you moving the goal posts and the slippery slope. If you can't realize that, I have nothing more to say to you. How about we just get rid of marriage when it comes to the law and make it entirely equal for everyone? There, happy now?

You want equal rights for gays to marry but according to you it's moving the goal posts to bring up other odd marriages. Go for it if you want to get rid of marriage altogether and good luck with that.

I think this description of the situation is right on target:

Once again, the Republicans didn't object to the immigration rider being tacked onto the DHS funding bill, because they are the ones who put it there. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp, but you seem to have a lot of trouble with it.
No need to demonize the Tea Party, they have done that all by themselves. Conservative Republicans are even beginning to acknowledge that the House Tea Party members are behaving like angry Rottweilers. I would call them petulant children, but both analogies are apt.
Here's the thing about their unwillingness to compromise. They will not win this fight, just like they ultimately lost the fight that shut down the government. How did that one end? Oh, yeah, Boehner went to the Democrats, cutting the Tea Party out of the process entirely because they could not be reasoned with. And that's what will happen this time as well.
So not only are the House Tea Party members petulant children, they're stupid petulant children. They simply are incapable of learning from the past. They only know how to do one thing, and that is to stamp their little feet and make unreasonable, unobtainable demands.
Time for the adults in the GOP to put the children in the corner and get down to the work of governing.

Amen; and the mainstream conservs have started to see the light, voting down RWNJs big time during the party primaries.
And yes, JB will join with moderate to blue dog Dems again as needed to keep America functioning, just as he did at Shutdown Time. That coalition should be titled the Coalition of the Sane.

Or god forbid, cats and dogs begin to marry. This slippery slope argument was used when a white person wanted to marry a black person. It was a thin veil to cover their bigotry then, much like it is today. Two gay people getting married isn't going to ruin your life or your marriage.
The way I see it, is that the GOP will never win another presidency with the tea party. The tea partiers are too extreme for the average American.
I agree. The presence of the tea party signifies that Republicans have significantly REGRESSED from the pathetic Bush years. The tea party is no more than a fanatical, bigoted segment of the party of Dixie. The Republican party doesn't stand a chance in future elections unless they become more like Democrats in both ideology and practice.
In general, any Conservative pretending as if the Republican party has a chance in future elections, in their current form, represents pure woo.
