Perhaps...

I only hear from libertarians when it comes to tax reform though and most want to go to a much more regressive tax system out of "fairness" and removing the IRS because they go after "everyone" (even though they go more after the 500K+ income makers.)

The term limits most do agree on.

Less government, the issue here is what to close out. The EPA is one thing I think most of us agree is a needed evil as is the IRS (unless we overhaul the system.) The issue is do we need things like the department of education, should the homeland security department be reorganized outside of it or not, how we reform welfare, etc.

I think in someways we do believe in Tea Party philosophy. The issue is that isn't always the message they promote and put forward.

This was an interview to enhance himself for the election which he promptly lost. The sad part is this clown can't name any policies that are extreme. It's just a buzzword that some on the media lemmings fall for.

I don't know, Cruz isn't that favorable to the mainstream according to an aggregate of various polls by Huffington Post. Ted Cruz Favorable Rating - Polls - HuffPost Pollster Largely his unfavorable rating has been around the high 30% and 40%. Does the average public know something we don't about the Tea Party?

With all due respect, it appears some of the more liberal posters do not understand what TEA stands for; Taxed Enough Already. TEA Party members are tired of the govt'st lack of accountability with spending of our tax dollars. Extreme? Please explain. IMO, "extreme" is a term used by some politicians to marginalize those that disgree with them. Remember the town hall meetings that took place across the country in 2009-2010? Angry constituents were labeled "terrorists" by Pelosi, et. al., and by gosh, many politicians have refused to face the wrath of the people ever since.
Anyway, TEA Party followers have a deep loyalty to our country and are tired of the apologists currently in the W.H. No, it's not perfect, however we don't need a leader that refuses to lead by example, instead preferring to lead from behind. If he tried that with a horse, more than likely he'd get his brains kicked to high heaven. Furthermore, by leading from behind, he is taking the cowards way out- let those in front take the fall/blame UNLESS the outcome is positive, then he happily basks in the limelight when he didn't earn it.
Sorry, it's late and I'm beginning to ramble. Have a great evening.

Huffpo leans left, thus their polls tend to be skewed. Ted Cruz is brilliant and he is being attacked because neither party want someone who memorized the Constitution at 10 y/o to rock their boat, lol. It's been noted by other Senators that Cruz should probably hire a food tester when in D.C. That tells me all I need to know: he scares them because he refuses to be a good little junior senator sheeple and go along to get along.

Pelosi isn't that favorable so dems are out of touch?
Or if I show one person from the Tea Party with a favorable rating doesn't that cancel your example out?

lol

Cruz is a far right nutter who has absolutely zero chance at winning a Presidential election.

If the GOP's candidate must have the Tea Party's stamp of approval (whatever that's supposed to mean, it's an odd collection of genuine grassroots and astroturf groups), the GOPers might as well concede the 2016 election right now.

But actually, that won't have to be the case, the Tea Party will get in line and vote GOP because while the national Republican Party may be awful in myriad ways, they're not dumb enough to let the tail wag the dog.

The Tea Party is the Constitutional Conservative Grassroot Independents
They are not a political party.

Without them, the GOP loses the General Election, to a Democrat. Plain and simple.
The Republican base will not stay home, but the tea party grassroots will.
The only way the GOP wins the Whitehouse, is with a Constitutional Conservative leading the way.
And with the direction the nation is trending, the blue wall will be broken.
