Hillary thought the same thing in 2008, look how that turned out for her.

Well he may have been a viable candidate (not really) until he opened his mouth about gays and prison

In prison you don't have a choice whether or not to open your mouth. Someone will do it for you and you just gotta go with the flow.

Ben Carson, at least when it comes to politics/social matters, is an idiot. The fact that he lamely apologized for his dumb, inflammatory rhetoric, even though he truly believes it, is even worse. If you're going to be a conservative bigot, at least have some spine. Liberals, and anyone with common sense, definitely weren't going to vote for you. Now, I doubt even his fellow conservative bigots will.

What sort of idiot makes up his or her mind before he sees the two in a debate, or listens to their views at the time, watches how they deal with pressure?

Ask me after I've seen that, a poll now just indicates who is so blinded by partisanship that they make foolish choices.

From what I have seen so far if these would be the choices I'd be voting Vermine Supreme again

Politicians say foot in mouth statements all the time. Obama has said countless things that should have hurt him. This won't hurt Carson at all. Especially since the majority of voters won't know or think about it.
