Perhaps one should write: "The man named Rafael Edward Cruz, son of Rafael Bienvenido Cruz, called "Ted" by family and friends".
I was very gratified to see that the students at Liberty University were only facing a $10.00 fine, plus a reprimand, if they chose to not attend the speech delivered by Rafael Edward Cruz, son of Rafael Bienvenido Cruz*.
*note that the article points out that Rafael Edward Cruz was not a 'special' case; students at "Liberty" University must attend three 'events' per week or pay fines and face reprimands (such as, "Jesus is very, very disappointed in you"). This was just one of those events.

Wouldn't that make you happy...but you know that's not true. At least he doesn't have to pay people to attend his speeches or have plants in the audience to make up questions or faux swoon!
I don't think anybody doubts Cruz can draw a Tea Party crowd. His problem is that he wants to be president of all Americans, not just the 8% who identify as the Tea Party.
Or Malcolm X, depending on the birther you are talking to. Also, Stanley Ann Dunham is not Obama's real mother, at least according to those same birthers. Birthers believe the stupidest things, as the birther who is all over this thread perfectly exemplifies.

Funny that you say, "birthers believe the stupidest things," when you have been peddling "birther" nonsense about Ted Cruz, claiming he was born in Cuba. Or am I mistaken? I know some of you "Curz birthers" have said that.
As a left leaning progressive (and no, that does not mean marxist, socialist or commie!), I knew very little about Cruz before this week.
He has a very impressive academic and legal resume, no doubt about that.
BUT, having watched some of his speeches, I would never have guessed his academic background.
He comes off as a ramble rousing preacher. Perhaps he feels the need to dumb down to the crowd?
He either has no intension of winning the nomination and election, OR, he has zero political smarts.
-The whole shutting down the government example makes him unelectable.
-Not distancing himself from the birther wing of the Tea Party is ironically stupid.
-Leaving Texas to announce at the Jerry Falwell College for Rightwing Nuttery is political suicide.
-Forcing people to attend his announcement. Really? He thought no one would find out?
-Fighting ACA but then announcing he is signing up is worse than Romney's remark about the "47%".
-And he is obviously bad at math if he thinks a Texas Tea Bagger can win a national election!
Given the above, my assumption is that he jumped in early while the media is hungry for election news,
and he will be out early. His only goal was to make a national name for himself which will help with
future book royalties and speaking fees. Too bad he couldn't at least be honest about it.
I don't have much against Cruz's outside of congress resume. It is pretty stout but is it presidential, maybe. The problem with Cruz though is how abrasive Cruz is.
Really? I don't see anyone calling Chris Christie stupid and crazy for his abrasiveness or is it just accepted because "it's a Jersey thing."
