I live in Texas at the moment, so I think it's a foregone conclusion who will win the TX GOP primary for 2016.

It was all but officially over in 2012 by the time Texas had its primary.

But I'm moving to another state in 2015, so my vote may be relevant... although I have a suspicion the candidate I'm leaning toward won't be the winner in the state I'm moving to.

I live in an overwhelmingly Republican state, so I was forced to join the party to have a choice in any primary election. All the state and local primaries are often only a choice between one Republican and another.

When it comes to the Presidential primaries, I always vote for the Republican I think least likely to win in the general. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong, but until the party affiliation restriction law is eliminated here, I'm not the only one in my state that's voting against the Republican's best interests or voting for their worst candidate.

The law was nothing more than a Republican purity test to begin with, and it's relatively recent, only dating back to 2009. Before then, everyone was free to choose who they wanted from either party in the primaries. These days, the law only make the conservatives here even more split than they otherwise might be.
