First you need to know that illegal immigration is at it's lowest level in 30 years.
Second, is that even the staunchest supporters of Comprehensive immigration reform want the borders secured from future mass illegal immigration first, before anything else is done.
Third, the comprehensive immigration reform we are talking about concerns the 11 million people already here and have been here for 10, even 20 years. It's called the shadow population and they are already a working part of our society.
Nobody but ideologues who parrot right wing scare tactics are saying that immigration reform means we open our borders to all barefoot south americans who want to come here.
That's right wing, hate propaganda.

Keep hope alive, I guess.
In presidential elections, Republicans have won the popular vote only ONCE in the past 24 years. And that was with an incumbent, during a war, and by a slim margin. That was a decade ago, and demographics have only gotten worse for repugs since then.

To win in 2016, Republicans have to pretty well run the table and win every single swing state. Democrats only have to win one or two.

As for the 2014 elections- the old/white/racist Teabilly base is spread out across a whole bunch of smalls impoverished red states, whereas lots of Democrats are concentrated in modern and prosperous urban areas. Republicans have a very clear advantage in the senate due to how the legislative body is structured and how the Teabilly population is distributed. And still Republicans barely pulled it off.

Republicans have a distinct advantage in the House due to blatant gerrymandering. Their strategy of focusing on corrupt podunk state legislatures has paid off.

So Let Me Be Clear: Repugs will remain a force to be reckoned with in state politics, and in the U.S. Congress. But Repugs will NOT win another presidential election for a long, long time.

Sorry if that wasn't simple and soundbytey enough for ya

QFT.

Unfortunately most right-wingers are more interested in hate than truth.

One other point concerning the Senate. Republicans will be playing "Whack A Mole" in the Senate this election cycle with 24 republican senate seats up for grabs. Odds are very good they will lose the slim majority they have.

It's simply not true that most Americans want amnesty cloaked at "reform" and Jeb Bush is as big a traitor as Hillary on this issue. I have no use for either of them or any other candidate advocating for this nonsense and I don't care what their party affiliation is.
So true: for those who insist we are the party of rich white racists and old men to boot; just read my comments on post number 48; subject: This is why Republicans will lose: I represent just one family, but look at the diversity within my family. I actually find whar appears to be, more racists in the d party than the R party.

The GOP will nominate Bush thinking he "can win",
then he will lose handily to Hillary.

What makes you say that?

(Honest, serious question.)

Does it make a difference, me thinks not.

One of the frontrunners for the Republican presidential nomination has explicitly stated multiple times that he wants racial discrimination to be legal in the private sector. Aka 'whites-only lunch counters'. And an awful lot of Republicans support him on this.

Republicans have done everything in their power to keep minorities from voting, including overturning parts of the Voting Rights Act that applied to the historically racist South.

Republicans constantly make racist jokes about YOUR PRESIDENT, his wife, even his children. Several Republican officials have had to step down over this sort of thing.

But you just can't imagine why people think Republicans are racist, can you?

Republicans do everything in their power to cut benefits and raise taxes on the poor and working class. Republicans have passed laws allowing billionaires to pay lower effective tax rates than waitresses and mechanics. Republicans hate unions, but fully support a slew of govenment-enforced profit protections used by companies (abusive patent/copyright practices, government-backed monopolies in the telecom industry, corporate welfare, special sweetheart deals on eminent domain, water rights, buddy-buddy govt contracts, etc.). And Republicans' single solution to every problem under the sun is to cut taxes on billionaires. If education, retirees, and childrens' healthcare suffers... so much the better! Republicans are bought and paid for by the oligarchs, and even slavishly refer to their wealthy benefactors wistfully as Job Creators(TM).

But you just can't imagine why people think Republicans are a bunch of wealth-worshiping sycophants, can you?

There is a reason it is at its lowest level in recent years: we let all these kids in, without any thought of why they had been sent here or what would follow. That slowed down the influx of illegals for the minute. Then when our economy went sour, fewer illigals could find decent jobs here. so they choose not to bother.

You are right to a degree but we do have to be very careful how we act, when and what the outcome could be.
