The definition of "national scale" notwithstanding, Illinois citizens are urban, suburban, rural, protestant, Catholic, Jew, Gentile, all colors and ethnicities, Republican, Democrat, independent.

Suffice it to say that he's got the goods to win against any Republican or Democrat at any time.

I hope that any Democrat will beat any Republican this year at this point. During the last years all I have heard is how we right and left coasters should follow the example of the good and noble people of the Midwest, we should all be more like them, and now we have a native son from Illinois, and somehow he is not Midwest enough I guess!

Not to quibble, but Barack grew up in Hawai'i. He settled in the midwest as a young adult.

But I know what you meant.

Backfist, I am using the same philosophy of the Bush's of New England, private boarding schools and Yale that make George Bush a native Texan I guess. Ha, good point, but glad you knew what I meant, his adult and professional life has been spent working in Illinois, much like Hillary of Illinois and Arkansas who is now a New Yorker. Or myself for that matter who has had 28 addresses in 49 years. Guess we are all just mobile Americans, funny that.
