Since 2000, Sanders has used campaign donations to pay his wife and stepdaughter more than $150,000, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Exclusive: Bernie Sanders Used Campaign Donations to Pay Family Members Over $150,000 - Progressives Today

It sounds like a conflict of interest to me!

But because he promises more free crap than Santa Claus, his supporters will ignore that little detail.

They act like Bernie hates money. Bernie likes money when Bernie gets to keep the money.

It's easy to spend money and be generous with money when you didn't work for it.

They hit him over complaining about the millions that Wall Street pours into campaigns because he pays his wife $30,000 to handle his media for his campaigns?

I do not know but I have to guess that this is a pretty low number for someone in that position.

150,000 over 15 years is only 10,000/ year. 5,000 for two people. That is hardly a job for Robin Hood.

I wouldn't be surprised if they worked for the money. At minimum wage or less.

And that "someone" just happens to be his wife.

Come on, of all the high qualified hipsters who are for him, he couldn't find ONE to do this? He couldn't get the professional his donors thought their money was gonna go?

This is clear nepotism...but B.S. supporters will find some way to spin this. They must believe their messiah is flawless.

I should be able to put my wife to work for me if I run a business but I shouldn't be able to here? Yes, it could look bad if one was paid for being one's wife but it would appear that this was a real job with real work.

His wife Jane O’Meara Sanders received $91,020 for “consultation” and to negotiate the purchase of television and radio ads. Approximately $61,000 of that was “pass through” money used to pay for the ads, O’Meara Sanders told the Bennington Banner. She kept about $30,000 as pay for her services.
Her daughter Carina Driscoll, Sanders’ stepdaughter, earned $65,002 from the Sanders campaign between 2000 and 2004, records show.

I think we ought to be outraged that Bernie did not pay living wages for their services!!!!! lol

Mrs. Sanders is a former professional media buyer. She netted only $30,000 for two House races.

I don't know the stepdaughter's function or profession, but $65,000 over 4 years does not ring a warning bell.

I would have a problem if the jobs paid significantly above-market, but they don't appear to be. If family is providing a steep discount of their usual rates to the candidates running on tight budgets, what's wrong with that?

Mick

There's nothing at all unusual about a politician hiring a family member.

Anymore than it is unusual for a business or a church or a school to hire an employee's family member.

Or for a legislator to hire a family member as a staff person.

What, you want to pass a law that makes these situations illegal!!!???
