'They're gonna cut Social Security. They're gonna cut Medicare. They're gonna cut Medicaid. I'm the one saying I'm not gonna do that."

"They're attacking Social Security — the Republicans — they're attacking Medicare and Medicaid."

Donald Trump's Liberal Stripes Are Starting To Show - Investors.com

Trump is a fiscal Liberal who supports strengthening entitlement programs. His supporters seem to think that he's some kind of Conservative crusader, but he's not Conservative outside of the issue of illegal immigration (where even his views are somewhat muddied by inconsistency).

SSI isn't an entitlement program, people put in their entire lives and expect it back. Not the citizen's fault the government stole that money because of their reckless spending. It probably won't be there when I need it, so I'm not counting on it at all, but still.

Glad Trump won't cut that, he's for the American people. The Republicans want citizens working until one foot is in the grave before they are given what they earned over a lifetime, while they retire early with fat paychecks.

This is a good thing. It's why he appealing to a very wide swath of voters that defies the traditional definitions of "liberal" and "conservative".

Glad you finally noticed.

Statistically, the dumber you are, the more likely you are to be a Trump supporter.

Fits with the need to be on some sort of social welfare program to make it. Of course Trump is not going to whizz on that parade. He panders to that group with his immigration, sexist, militaristic, race bating...and now welfare comments.

Conservatives argue against government spending in the abstract while being more than happy to take any government handout they can get. It's all about taking away those other people's benefits. As long as Trump is careful to rail about welfare abuse while doling out ss disability payments to able-bodied rednecks, he will continue to do well.

Do you think it's okay that our borders aren't secured? Do you also think that it's okay that we have millions of illegal aliens in this country---many who engage in ID theft and tax evasion? And yet you think that people who care about these things are "dumb".

If you are working, part of your paycheck goes to Social Security. Are you telling us that when it is time for you to retire, you are going to refuse to collect it?

That all depends on how long you live for. The government of course hopes that each of us will die the day after we retire from our jobs, but usually that isn't the case. Most people who live ten years or more will take out a sum total which is significantly higher than what they put into the system, via SS and medicare. That is why these programs are both entitlements, at least to an extent. Today's millennials are going to get a very bum deal on the whole system, but most old people don't care as long as that check is in the mail on time.
