I agree with this, but how likely is it to happen? Can Trump stop being Trump?

I believe Hillary is more beatable than Obama was in 2012 because she won't get as high a turnout of Blacks and Hispanics - may get the same percent of non White vote but that share may decline - and quite frankly she isn't as likeable as Obama. The problem with Trump is his campaign is centered on anti White sentiment, there could be a backlash turnout of non Whites voting for Hillary just to keep Trump from winning.
I still doubt Trump will get the nomination. His poll numbers have been the same for weeks now. As everyone not named Cruz or Rubio drop out one of those 2 will gain more delegates. The party establishment will not allow Trump to win a brokered convention. Most of my family are die hard Republicans and not one of them would vote for Trump.
If you actually looked at Mercury Analytics' actual survey, they say that Hillary has an edge over Mr. Trump despite the 20% cross-over. I don't think Hillary cares who is voting for her, so long as she gets most votes in each state.
