The old saying goes, "If it isn't YOUR family in danger you are NOT in favor of torture. IF YOUR family is in danger, you are for ANYTHING in order to get the information to save them".
Of course he's in favor of waterboarding. Of course he tells his fawning admirers he'd do a hell of a lot worse. He thinks it makes him look all macho and tough.
He wasn't all macho and tough when he was telling the draft board that he couldn't serve his country because he had an ouchie on his foot but never mind that....nothing as macho as a chickenhawk.

Oh, and torture, both physical and mental has worked very well for thousands of years. Of that have no doubt.
No it doesn't. It gets people to say what they have to say in order for it to stop. If you insist on torturing them until they share information you want, you may well end up simply torturing innocent people to death for the crime of legitimately not knowing any relevant information.
Meanwhile the real culprits are still on the loose.
The best way to get people to cop up to things is to get them intoxicated enough. Force them to get so drunk or high that they are well beyond any ability to lie (which takes conscious thought).
So that gives us license to torture, it's not as if any useful information came out of all the water boarding. But not to worry Trump was never in a position to be tortured unless you count golf.
Actually we did get some actional information from waterboarding. This doesn't mean we should do it indiscriminately but we shouldn't take it off the table.
And, trump will be ok with it if the 'other side' does the same to any Americans they catch.

I'm sure that if we forced them to drink alcohol when many of them are teetotalers, the liberals would call that "torture," too.
It's stuff like this that makes me laugh when a conservative tries to take the moral high ground. All life is precious and magical and must be protected but we need to kill innocent people for the crime of being related to a terrorist.
How about we start locking up all the families of every person in prison in the US. If you've got a family member whose ever served time, you're going to prison with them.
And, trump will be ok with it if the 'other side' does the same to any Americans they catch.
Pretty sure the other side is doing worse. Public beheadings with a knife???
