How is Donald Trump going to "build a wall" and end free trade when he becomes president?
Neither Trump, nor any other cheap political bozo, can "end free trade"; nor can any supposed expression of the will of "the people" via a plebiscite. Free trade is what happens when artificial forms of interference, such as tariffs, are removed -- it can't be "abolished" -- only impeded.
Free trade acts by encouraging the exchange of goods and services to erase an artificial advantages. And the inconvenient truth is that fewer such advantages were more apparent than in the late Forties in North America, when the ravages of war and the emergence of institutionalized Marxism took most of the competition off the table -- until the natural forces of the markets made themselves felt, as they almost always will.
The source of the frustrations can also be identified via the constantly-changing nature of the hierarchy of human want. The basics -- the things necessary to organize and operate a household -- have never been cheaper in terms of the amount of time invested in order to earn them. But once we obtain a full stomach, a warm, dry place to sleep, and the more simple enhancements like electric power and heated running water, any improvement upon those desires usually requires the input of somebody else's time and attention. And we have further underpinned and stabilized our markets by requiring that any documented hired labor be subject to the tax contributions that fund the "social contract". Hence, the constantly growing temptation to work "off the grid" and/or "under the table", and it's the guys, gals, and families who still play by the rules who have to take up the slack.
And more as an afterthought, I'd like to point out that the old, production-oriented economy was somewhat kinder to those of us who recognize that life becomes more and more of a defensive battle as one advances in years. The surge in service-based jobs suited the former stay-at-home spouse or teenager entering the labor force, but a displaced mature industrial worker isn't going to have much enthusiasm for retraining that constantly puts a demanding customer living on transfer payments, let alone a not-fully-rational inhabitant of a medical facility or other institution, "in your face".

You might want to read Article II Section I of the US Constitution.
When you get done with that, you might want to read Article 2205 of NAFTA, which expressly states that any party may withdraw from the Treaty upon providing notice 6 months in advance.
Article 2205: Withdrawal A Party may withdraw from this Agreement six months after it provides written notice of withdrawal to the other Parties. If a Party withdraws, the Agreement shall remain in force for the remaining Parties.
So, any US president can withdraw from NAFTA simply by sending a communique to the governments of Canada and Mexico notifying them of the intent of the US to withdraw effective 6 months from the date received.
No Executive Order is needed.
I might remind you that Obama and also Hillary both promised to withdraw from NAFTA, but only in an attempt to renegotiate the conditions of the Treaty.
Both failed to keep their promise.
As far as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement:
Quote:
Article 30.6 Withdrawal
1. Any Party may withdraw from this Agreement by providing written notice of withdrawal to the Depositary. A withdrawing Party shall simultaneously notify the other Parties of its withdrawal through the contact points.
2. A withdrawal shall take effect six months after a Party provides written notice to the Depositary under paragraph 1, unless the Parties agree on a different period. If a Party withdraws, this Agreement shall remain in force for the remaining Parties
The Despositary is New Zealand in case anyone was wondering.
That's hilarious. All the folks that like Trump are "Low Information Voters" yet Trump haters, a small minority of obsessed abnormal folks, are the Informed ones? That's cute...
Funny you should bring that up. Saw an interview the other night.
A Trump supporter said "China will pay for the wall."
Another one said the goal is the "defeation of ISIS."
Another one said "because he is going to defeat The ISIS (yes, she did), but can't give a plan because someone might hear it." It was hysterical.
The only WALL I want to see is the one that keeps the Islamic Wackos isolated in Arabia where they can keep busy killing each other.
I see no reason to be so paranoid about illegal immigration from the Christian (yes, Bubba Catholics are Christians) societies of Central and South America. Aside from the gang related criminals that are no different from gang related immigrants from Ireland or Sicily in a previous day, these people make good neighbors.
Right, they don't take jobs that Americans need, reduce wages, add to our tax liabilities, overcrowd our schools, jails and hospitals, etc. No problem, right?
Wall alone will cost $25 bilion just to build. We could take it out of their half billion foreign aid, but that's US paying for it, not Mexico. The cost to provide manned security for the thousands of miles could be billions annually. Pipe dream.
We're already spending billions on illegal aliens. Put a stop to it and those costs will go down.
State's rights come into play - each state determines for itself how employment legality will be tested. Do you want to see an even bigger uproar than the one over gay marriage, all over state's rights?
States don't have the right to violate Federal Immigration laws.
Trump is going to bring back slave labor, which the Chinese used to great effect in constructioning their wall all those years ago. One million casaulties and several centuries later, it's nothing more than a giant tourist trap.
Please answer. Since when has America become a monarchy?
They have already written it into law but nobody is doing anything about it. I am confident Trump will personally jump in the backhoe and start digging the day after inauguration. That is how motivated he is. Can you see Cruz doing that? No, but he will "talk" about it.

Trump is a farce.
"Tinfoil hat syndrome" seems to be spreading around here, and not among those of us in Right, or even Center Field.
