& my take on it: the divide will not be bridged as long as the mental masturbation techniques continue. As long as the arguments, debates, discussions & what have you, are framed as some sort of quixotic battle between good & evil, we, as a people, will not be prepared for any kind of meaningful progress toward goals or prepared for a progressive form of government or leadership.

The excessive amount of partisanship, denial, self-justification, et cetera are obstacles which hinder progress.
I agree with you 100%

I believe the Pope was out of line and Trump was spot on....not even close. As a Catholic, I realize there has always been a liberal/socialist wing in the Church and that's fine that the Pope has probably energized some of these folks while demoralizing conservative Catholics. Trying to say who and who is not Christian especially for those not even Roman Catholic puts the Pope out of his scope. Getting involved in Mexican and American politics and taking Mexico's side when the USA has accepted more immigrants than any other country compared to the Vatican's 2 is also way out of line and he should be called on it.

I'm beginning to think I could vote for Trump.

Fantastic, excellent accurate commentary. A vote for Trump is the only one I could make.

The pope is the epitome of a Hypocrite and should stay out of American politics. His Judgmental commentary against Donald Trump exposed the pope as the glorified Fraud he Truly is.

The "Pope"

Who oversees a multi billion dollar company
Who is surrounded by a 40' wall
Who has probably the most restrictive immigration laws on the planet
Who has a security detail
Who has an army of weapons in the basement
Who spend millions on travel

Who preaches to the world about humility, giving, peace and understanding for your fellow
man

That's laughable..

The Pope needs to have his butt kicked soundly, and Trump is the man to do it.

Never mentioned Trump by name......made a comment about turning your back on fellow human beings in need as being unChristian.......if the shoe fits. And it appears by you Trumpfans, the shoe fits perfectly.

Obviously, the Pope is not familiar with the US/Mexico border crisis.
The blessed Pontiff should stay in his comfort zone where is Europe.

It's so surrealistic. Like we're living in a reverse universe. Evil Putin compliments a presidential candidate and it is gladly accepted. Pope, world religious leader, makes a comment about helping the unfortunate, and he's vilified for doing so.

Unreal.
