Texas does actually have a winner take all provision in their Primary, although it's doubtful it will happen. You have to win more than 50% of the vote and in each of the 36 counties. You never know though. Cruz can still get REALLY close to Trump by winning TX and a few other states March 1

After SC, it's not clear that Cruz will win TX at all. He failed to garner a significant share of what is supposed to be his base.

Cruz is a newcomer to Texas politics. I don't believe he has a deep reservoir of loyalty among Texans. What has he done for Texas? What fights has he won for Texas? Trump can beat him.

Trump is honestly the only Republican with a chance at winning the general. Cruz is too right winged to be able to capture Democrat votes, and Rubio is too inexperienced. I feel like Trump is more aligned with Reagan, and he will be able to capture many Democratic and minority votes.

I think he was at the Alamo.

Rumored to have been an adviser to Santa Anna.

Nasty fellow, said to play the trumpet.

Someone could poll 1st graders who check a name with crayon and if Trump was ahead they would be shooting it from the rooftops. Can't wait for March 1st and see Trump cry lke a baby and throw a Trumpertantrum on Twitter after he loses TX.
It's possible quite Cruz will win.Texas has an antiquated system in delegates awarding though. It's the same state that Hilary Clinton won in but received less delegates than Obama as well. He's likely only going to get a fraction of what is available. Then again he was also supposed to do great in SC, and we all see how well that turned out for him.

You haven't been paying attention to the general election polls. Trump is the only major candidate who gets hammered by Hillary and Bernie, and by a lot. Cruz still holds a slim lead over Hillary and Rubio beats both Hillary and Bernie. A vote for Trump ensures 4 years of Hillary.

Part of the primary process is to make sure the candidate can withstand scrutiny/attacks.

Sanders has been a relative gentlemen with Hillary, barely going after her. Maybe he did so because he is principled or maybe he was afraid he would be branded a sexist by Hillary.

Trump won't give a damn about political correctness and go after Hillary for everything (iraq war, libya war, emails, donations from special interests, private $600k speeches to wall street, and her enabling of Bill during the decades women were claiming sexual harassment)

Hillary is an awful campaigner; the DNC and Clinton backers will be out looking for a safe space when Trump turns his focus on her.
