I understand their point about the ghettos. I don't know enough about Davis background but Trayvon's mother actually had a decent job. While they lived in a black area of Miami, it isn't really the ghetto.
Her son was ghetto, not the neighborhood he grew up in. Sorry but is the truth. Zimmerman of course is an excuse of a human being. Hope he ends up like OJ. In jail someday.
I feel very sorry for Davis' death. Unlike Martin, he he was 100% a victim. Fortunately his racist killer is rotting in prison. However the 2nd amendment is not going away anytime soon.
I do not think Bernie is explicitly racist. But he does submerge racial issues into economic ones, and misses the fact that for many Americans of color, they can be well educated and financially successful yet still face racism on both a systemic and personal basis.
Quote:
The audience of African-American activists and other Vermonters of color should have been a friendly one for the socialist congressman.
Instead, remembers Curtiss Reed Jr., the executive director of the group, it became something of a showdown. Sanders “was just really dismissive of anything that had to do with race and racism, saying that they didn’t have anything to do with the issues of income inequality,” Reed told The Daily Beast.
“He just always kept coming back to income inequality as a response, as if talking about income inequality would somehow make issues of racism go away.”
Vermont’s Black Leaders: We Were ‘Invisible’ to Bernie Sanders
She's entitled to her opinion, however misguided. Bernie didn't express his answer artfully, but clearly he didn't mean anything racist.

The problem is that you (and some others) love to gloat about all the crazies that exist in the GOP, but conveniently turn a blind eye when it comes to seeing how far to the left the Democratic Party has moved during the Obama era.
Unfortunately, there are people (who are the exact opposite of the bigoted Trumpettes) who love to cry "racism" at every perceived slight, and the Democratic Party has chosen to accommodate these people. Consequently, I feel no sympathy when Sanders (or any other white liberal) is called a racist.
