Wow, thats terrible news for Trump. AZ is as red as it gets. They have only voted Democratic ONCE (Clinton in 96) since 1948. Said it before and I will say it again, Hillary will win in an epic landslide if that clown Trump is her opponent.

Bernie Sanders actually beats Trump 39 percent to 36 percent, according to Merrill.
Completely natural. Unlike Hillary, Sanders has strong support among independents and the white working class so he draws support directly from his base.

That's like saying Cruz should be nominated than Trump because he does better than Trump against Hillary

Whats your argument against that theory? Whats the point of nominating a GOP candidate who's just going to get slaughtered by Hillary in the general? At least Cruz has a chance against her as pretty much every, single poll shows.

Except cruz just got the kiss of a few in the establishment endorsing him. Rubio and bush will tell you how well that worked out, especially since it goes against cruz's narrative of being the rebel/outsider dude. Quite laughable actually.

AZ is more apathetic with the moderates than red. A bad candidate from the GOP usually gets beaten because moderate people get motivated to vote. Napolitano was the governor not long ago - Brewer got the job when Obama called. The legislator behind the infamous SB1070 was recalled and then thumped badly when he ran again.

Trump might be the catalyst to get the moderates in the state off their duffs. If that happens its goodbye Joe (Arpaio) and McCain. McCain is looking at an opponent from the right in the primary and facing a popular dem who has beaten them before in pretty red territory. Nobody talks much about it, but McCain's seat could go dem especially if Trump runs and brings out the opposition.

Not sure I follow. AZ is as red as it gets when it comes to Presidential elections. They have only voted for a Democrat once since 1948.
