Truer words were never written than the bolded above. I don't agree with the personal info dump, but Trump really is treating this campaign like a reality show where he thinks he is in control. He lost control a while ago, but doesn't seem to realize it yet. But this is going to get real for him now. Like you, I hope he realizes it and puts the brakes on, but somehow I doubt this will happen until something forces him to. That is the real fear that many of us have had for a while now.
Welcome to reality. But don't expect anything in the form of a self realization. In fact, he's probably unable to reflect on himself at all. I can only feel sorry for him.

You post this, yet you support someone actively advocating torture, violating the Geneva Convention, violating international law (by killing combatants' families) and violating domestic law. Someone who encourages audiences at his rally to be violent towards protesters.

Quite frankly, it doesn't matter if it's Donald Trump or an eggplant. People have a right to run for office and people have a right to vote for that person. Republican primary voters have rejected Jeb Bush, and Marco Rubio, and Lindsey Graham, and Chris Christie, and Carly Fiorina, and Ben Carson, etc. etc. they're about to reject Ted Cruz as well.
Now, we have a party who is taking the votes of the people and trying to throw them out the window. You have a group of cowardly hackers using illicit and illegal means in an attempt to impeach Trump's character. They want to discard the democratic process because it's not working in their favor. I guess that's the mentality - if the system isn't working for you, just hack it.
With regard to the things Trump has said, I repeat: it doesn't matter who or what is running for president as long as they're eligible. You make your opinion heard at the ballot box, and if you disagree with Trump, vote for someone else. All this doomsday drivel about America turning into an authoritarian dictatorship is alarmist nonsense. We have this thing called checks and balances that yes, even Trump is subject to.
The media didn't HAVE to give Trump all the attention they gave him, but they are greedy and money hungry and they knew what brought in the dough. Ironic, isn't it? If they'd ignored him from the outset he'd have been no more than a blip on the radar.
Trump is going to come and go. But once we start slipping away from democracy, that could have lasting effects.
