I didn't know Ivanka was running for president. This thread really doesn't belong in the Elections Forum.
Ivanka is a top executive in The Trump Organization (EVP) and wouldn't have a clothing collection line if it wasn't for Dad's fame. Trump brags that he surrounds himself with talented people, and will do so as President. She is an example of one of these talented people.
Of course he is. He created jobs for his children. He put his kids on his reality TV show and one of them parleyed her fame into selling scarves made in China. Ka-ching!!
Of course we taxpayers are paying for the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall the scarves that could cause someone to end up in the burn ward but Trump will probably work that into a speech....blame it on Hillary...and one of his groupies will start a thread about Hillary being mean to Ivanka.
There is only one excuse for Trump's clothing and hotel textiles being made overseas. Greed! With his money if he really cared about America he could build his own factories HERE and still make money.

Let's not pretend any of the Trumps are, in fact, involved in the clothing industry in any respect apart from letting their name be used as brands. People - for whatever unfathomable reason - will pay more for a shirt or a scarf if there's a label that says Trump.
Gibson Guitars - at least partially Assembled in America, and, Canada.
Not all of the wood comes from the US, not really sure if any of the wood does.
Illegally imported ebony wood from Madagascar, and, wood from India was seized - proving that at least some of the wood used isn't from the US.
This is a bit unfair. The foreign wood is not selected because it is cheaper. In fact, quite the opposite. These woods are very expensive and considered exotic because of the sound they produce. The guitars, both acoustic and electric, that use these exotic woods are far more expensive than other guitars. I have a Brazilian rosewood Martin guitar (another Company that manufactures in America). All of the best instruments used to be made from this wood because of its very high resonance. It has been on the endangered list for the last 25 years or so, so it is illegal to use today. Although I got it for a relatively reasonable price in the late 80s, that guitar is worth a fortune now because you can't get them anymore, and they produce a superior sound. The point being, I still consider Gibson and Martin to be great all-American companies in spite of the fact that they buy their expensive blocks of wood from other countries before turning them into instruments.
BTW, I have one of the illegal Gibsons, and very glad I do. It sounds amazing.

Ya, that sounds like a good excuse for Trump's clothing lines---if you want to give him a free pass---but what about all the stuff it takes to build/run his hotels---draperies, carpeting, furniture, pillows, bed sheets, towels and on and on? He imports enough every year to keep an American textile factory humming along.
American voters buy billions of dollars worth of products from China every year. They don't seem to mind.
