I didn't think I would ever say this, but he is absolutely right. I could see Mr. Trump surprise us with how awesome his unconventional approach can be, or it could be WW3.

It's telling that Mr. Trumps supporter says that.

Goldwater got less than 39 percent of the popular vote and only carried six states in the electoral college.

Sounds like donald j tramp in the general election.

Completely agree.

I think Hillary is going to fold like a house of cards. Many of Bernie's supporters are people that don't frequently vote. If he's not the nominee, they go home. Trump is going to be on Hillary like a bloodhound. Right or not, Trump's problems have been known for years.

I think he'll either be the best president since Reagan or will fail spectacularly.

Newt Gingrich is nothing if not (perpetually) wrong!

2012 - Gingrich Tells ABC News: 'I'm Going to be the Nominee'

2016 - Gingrich: Hillary Clinton 'Very, Very Unlikely to be the Nominee'

Funny to see himself covering all the bases this time around. Guess it's finally dawned on him that the only way he can reliably predict anything is to predict all possible outcomes!

What does he mean, worse than Goldwater? In vote getting or as a person? Trump is nothing like Goldwater.

There has been a lot said about Goldwater lately. As a Goldwater disciple, I can no longer trust my memory. What people attribute to him is not the Goldwater I knew and loved.

IMO, Nelson Rockefeller and Bill Scranton did more to defeat Goldwater than Johnson and the Daisy commercial.

Kinda like the current crop of Republicans.

Hmm. When did Democrats stop thinking Gingrich was a bag of hot air, to expert on political elections?

Gingrich slams Trump. Said he was destructive in being critical of Gov Martinez - not good when enticing both Hispanics, and women........and Republicans (she's Chair of GOP Governors).

The GOP should be pissed at Trump just like Gingrich is now. Attacking Martinez was such a short sighted stupid thing to do. The GOP needs to be doing everything they can to help make Martinez a success. She could be a fairly influential political leader in the future. The only thing Trumps attacks show is he can't unify the party behind him and how he doesn't care about the future of the party. There is such a thing as positive criticism, but Gingrich nailed it on the head. Trumps criticisms are destructive, not helpful.
