If the Clintons steal the nomination, word on the street is Blooberg (NY Mayor) will contribute up to 1 billion dollar to Obama's campaign and become his running mate on the independent ticket. First off, this was written by Armstrong Williams so it has to be taken with a grain of salt. Secondly, I don't see how Obama running as an independent would cost the Democrats seats in Congress.

Key word here is 'stealing' the nomination. Why would a democratic congressman run under the democratic party if the voters, lets assume, choose to not associate themselves with the democratic party primarily due to the fact the presidential nomination was stolen by one candidate.
