For literally anyone else, the optics around this would be terrible. We'll see if the same plays out for Trump - it should. Terrible comments. Can you imagine the reaction from the right if Hillary said something like this?

It makes my eyes well with tears just reading about Mr. Trump's sacrifices! I'm glad he 'put it to' that fraud, Mr. Khan.
We must remember: If Mr. Trump did not have that bone spur, he would have gladly gone to Vietnam and fought like a Rambo! He would been such a killer, that the North Vietnamese would have said "This is not fair' and "This is rigged", and asked the Army to send him home.
I imagine that someday Mr. Trump will host an annual fundraising event, much like Jerry Lewis did for Muscular Dystrophy, to raise money to combat bone spurs, with Scott Baio serving as the co-host.

To me, it will be interesting to see of people like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, John McCain etc., make any kind of statement that they feel Trump went "A bridge too far", in going after the Kahns. So far it appears that the only sounds from them are the proverbial crickets.
Say what you will about Trump; he is at least honest with his feelings.
