It's not really hard. Something like "Thank you for your service. You are the one who earned this, not me, so you should keep it and be proud of it" would have been just fine.
Acting as if was something you get out of a bubble gum machine and that you always wanted one, despite actively avoiding military service is inappropriate to anyone who isn't blinded by Trumpsteria.
thank you! pretty much what any appreciative person could come up with on the spur of the moment
some megalomaniac with a mentality steeped in Narcissism would probably have difficulty however

lmao...Keep em coming, it's funny that you don't realize that you didn't hear the original exchange when he was actually given the medal, but you think you did.

oh, I watched the puke make a spectacle of himself
oh, I watched the puke make a spectacle of himself
don't worry, today is a new day
And we are watching you do the same. Nobody cares what YOU or ANYONE else would rather him say, the man who gave it to him was fine with what was said and that is ALL that matters and again, you nor anyone here knows what was said in the actual exchange.

oooooh...CAPS!
his cherished medal is now occupying the same space as some pocket lint packed away in his valise somewhere

It was a private encounter but Trump decided to make a show of it and bring the reluctant man on stage, had to bask in the glory... and then deposited it like used Kleenex in his pocket.

We're going by what Trump reported the encounter consisted of. Are you suggesting that Donnie isn't an accurate reporter of what actually occurred? Wouldn't that mean Donnie, you know, lied?
LMFAO..What was he supposed to say that would you would have approved of? Another pre teen shrieking OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!
It would have been trivially easy to turn that moment into a win-win. You can even lead with the "Oh, I've always wanted a medal" joke - but then you go serious, fold the veteran's gently around the medal, and say "This, Sir, is yours and can never be mine. I have not made the sacrifice it takes. Thank you for yours." Done. Easy. Politics 101. Just takes someone who can think on his feet and who possesses a less grabbing character than Trump does.

clearly the poster who keeps defending Trump in this situation doesn't clearly know what happened and doesn't have the facts - he/she's speaking out of his ass in the same manner as Mr Trump seems to do.
