Gingrich...

In remarks to the Washington Post, Gingrich said Trump cannot win the White House "operating the way he is now," and said Trump is "helping" Clinton win by making himself more and more "unacceptable" to voters with his repeated missteps.

"The current race is, which of these two is the more unacceptable, because right now neither of them is acceptable," Gingrich told The Post. "Trump is helping her to win by proving he is more unacceptable than she is.

Newt sees it. It's as plain as the day to me.
How can this be a conspiracy theory if Republican voters chose Donald Trump? Are Republican voters gullible enough to vote for a Manchurian candidate?

I think you have to turn yourself into a pretzel coming up with this conspiracy.

Trump is simply a deeply flawed candidate, simple as that.

Came home Monday evening to find a message on my answer phone (am a NYC resident), requesting "urgent" donations to the Trump campaign. No, won't be sending His Orangeness any money; message was promptly deleted.

IMHO it is starting to dawn on even some rank and file Republicans what they have done, more so each and every day as Trump opens his mouth and puts his foot in it. As in 2012 the party seems to be handing the Democrats the WH on a silver platter, and worse to that Clinton woman. Of more importance Trump is ticking off no end of various minorities who likely will turn out and vote in November; that means not just the WH but various Congress seats may be lost.

If that Clinton woman gets in *and* Democrats can control of the Senate and possibly House; stick a fork in it; it's done.... They will push through a vast liberal agenda and the Republicans will not be able to stop it.

While the general public does not seem to like either Clinton or Trump, the latter's negatives are greater and piling up daily. HC got a huge bump after the Democratic convention that at this point seems (as it was twice with Obama) destined to propel her into the WH.

Trump's ego won't let him bow out now, but he must be soiling his pants at what he's gotten himself into. His (third) current wife's past is being dug into and pictures being printed for God and the world to see. Melania Trump’s girl-on-girl photos from racy shoot revealed | New York Post

For all his money and supposed business sense Trump's campaign is being run by what appears are idiots. That gaffe with Mrs. Trump's speech at the RNC was humiliating and an indication of just how not ready for prime time this whole saga has become.

Best thing for Trump is that he looses; that way he can still claim some high ground; having run a good race and all that. OTOH if he wins his troubles will only multiply. Worse they will do so on a national stage to much of the world that doesn't like him one bit. If Democrats control the Senate and or House in 2017 you can bet they are going to give a President Trump the "Obama" treatment. In fact having Republicans in control of one or both houses probably isn't going to be much comfort to DT. It has already been in the media that Paul Ryan and others are planning to "govern around" DT if required.

DT would soon find out that being POTUS is not like running his own company. Congress and the courts do have a role in governing and both can make his life a misery.

I wish all the best to Mr. Trump and I sincerely hope and pray that he does not drop out of the race (see all above).

Trump claiming the high ground is absolutely laughable. That shipped sailed a long time ago. Probably around day one.

What would happen if Donald Trump dropped out of the race?

The entire country would breathe a sigh of relief!

Personally don't think The Donald planned on things getting this far; none of his earlier bids for the WH came to anything other than getting his name (and mouth) media coverage.

Trump is all about the brand, and has been so for years. His business decisions (purchase then subsequent forced sale of The Plaza hotel in NYC, Trump Airlines, Trump casinos, etc...) all speak volumes about the man. If his father didn't leave him that large RS portfolio the guy would be a bit player....

Problem for Trump is that things *have* gone that far and like a train at speed it cannot be stopped without causing damage (to him).

Again there really isn't a face saving way out or DT now, and time is running out for the Republican party. Come September when people are back from summer holidays and start truly paying attention to the November elections it will more difficult to get shot of DT and slip someone else in, and probably unfair. Debates have to be scheduled, and serious hard campaigning will also start.

Personally think the only way to get or have gotten rid of Trump by now is if someone found a terrific load of dirt. We're talking criminal investigation (FBI, SEC, IRS, etc...) that could result in serious consequences. DT won't release is taxes and if anyone knows something they aren't saying.

Millions of people would shoot themselves in the head, knowing Hillary "Fraud" Clinton would be our next president.

Unless of course the GOP would regain their senses and provide an acceptable candidate. There are many people who don't want Clinton but just find Trump even more unacceptable.

Excellent post, no matter what one's political stripes.

Maybe Trump would give them his newly acquired Purple Heart.
