The mere fact that it has to be scripted shows his insincerity on this issue, his inability to relate to the black community and his ignorance about how to reach out to them. This is a campaign ploy that someone thought would be a good idea, and it comes across as cheap pandering. Trump would be better off if he just stayed home and shut up.

you need to look deeper, his words came across as genuine and sincere, he's a flawed human being who's enthusiasm gets him carried away sometimes, that was neither the time nor the place to 'fly off the cuff'. this is a very sensitive visit in front of people who are very sensitive to race relations, they are very strained right now he had to go in there subdued and calm and rational, and the only way to do that was to read a speech from a piece of paper, there was no other way to do it with all things considered.
this a church with calm old religious people, its not a 'rally'.

his mouth goes faster than his brain, that happens to old people sometimes, we all know someone old who say the 'darndest things'. no need to make fun of his age, he's 70, people that old need a script, its up to you to look within and decide if he's genuine or not. If i give you the benefit of the doubt and say he's not really genuine, its still better than what the other candidate is doing, trump has been criticized for not being genuine in his visits to louisiana, mexico and now inner city detroit, but you know what? a disingenuous visit, if that's what you believe it to be, is still better than laying in bed nursing mystery ailments while planning your next 25k a plate fundraiser with the megarich.
That he read a Bible verse was as inauthentic as his "Drink My Little Wine And Eat My Little Cracker" "I never ask for forgiveness", "2-Corinthians" religious talk that he's provided us.
Remember your fight to help black folks right? You are looking a bit shady by taking the very opportunity the black community can use to build on.
Scripted on not, Trump has started the conversation- with Ben Carson, a black man. So by you parsing words and filtering the act of Donald's presence, in undermining this act by saying whether it was scripted or not, you are only pushing the overall conversation back.
Remember, it's not always about aligning with your foe but rather taking advantage of the leverage- you know, the thing that salesmen and politicians do.. And as a black man myself, I will shed some brotherly love by saying that black liberals are a bit too ignorant to properly strategize and use the very little leverages that they have. That kaepernick move isn't doing anything for the community but creating more of a divide. Him pledging to put up money is a shine move because he should put that money today, not what he "will" receive. Blacks need to work on making cleaner breaks, especially when the atmosphere isn't being fueled by unfortunate incidents such as police brutality. When the coast is clear, work the system to your advantage, not create backlash when it isn't necessary.
At the end of the day, we blacks keep taking stances for white awareness and when we get some light by the white man, take it and stop BSing... Or else go back to the basement and complain that massa didn't let you out the house.
