Let a judge decide if that is actually what happened. We only have this incompetent manager's word at this time.
We have a little more than that. We have the FEC filings, which show that the girls weren't reimbursed. And the manager has e-mails.
I can appreciate Trump supporters wanting to wait on a judge, and that seems perfectly reasonable. But I can appreciate Trump opponents pointing out that this isn't the first time that Trump via various businesses and operations, has screwed the little guy.
There is a plus side if Trump wins in November. Threads like this one will get to be started each and every day. He's such a goofball. He will be one of the most entertaining dips hits in office since Nixon or bumbling Ford. I can imagine all kinds of stupid stuff coming out of the White House. The press will have a field day......
He said he asked for $2,500 for the Jan. 13 appearance in Pensacola, but a staff member instead offered a table to sell the group’s merchandise outside the event. But when they arrived, there was no table, Mr. Popick said, calling it a breach of contract.
Even so, the campaign asked the group to perform again, he said.
About two weeks later, a campaign staff member called him and asked if the group could perform at an event in Des Moines the next day. Mr. Popick said he agreed it would be “huge exposure,” so he quickly bought nonstop flight tickets to Chicago for himself; his wife, Debbie; his daughter and two other girls.
But when they landed, planning to make the roughly five-hour drive to Des Moines, Mr. Popick was told that there would be no performance at the event. The group went instead as guests of the campaign, the girls wearing their costumes. Mr. Popick said he was not reimbursed for their travel costs.
This is so how I imagine it is like dealing with Trump.
Assuming you quoted the article correctly, the NYT just straight up lied about some of the facts or the manager told different stories to the Daily Beast and the NYT.
The Daily Beast interviewed the dad/manager, and he said they asked for a chance to do more events. The Trump campaign didn't ask them:
Quote:
The USA Freedom Kids were not deterred though. Sure, they’d lost their swag, but footage of their performance was going viral, racking up millions of views online and parodies on late-night television.
Popick asked the campaign about future gigs and was offered one when Trump announced he was going to skip a debate to host his own rally in late January.
The only problem was that this event was in Iowa, not their home state of Florida.
“They had said, well Iowa’s a pretty long distance for us to travel,” Marc Shapiro, the lawyer representing the Freedom Kids, told The Daily Beast. “There’s plane flights up there, and hotels and so forth, would you give us a stipend so that we can travel up there and perform. The Trump campaign said no, you would have to pay your own way.”
So if you take the facts from the 2 articles (all of which come from the entertainers), they were told they could sell their merchandise outside, they left it outside unattended and it was stolen.
But that didn't bother them, as they asked to perform again. They were told they could, but that they would have to pay their own way. Plans changed, they didn't get to perform, but they got to sit in VIP seats for exposure. And now they are suing for travel expenses. Conveniently, they filed the lawsuit weeks before their album came out.
Even if you take the one-sided facts from the manager, the worst the Trump campaign is guilty of doing is not letting them perform. And they had no contract.
Since there was no contract, we have no idea what the campaign even said about them performing. But we know that they were told they wouldn't be paid and their travel wouldn't be covered.

Nonsense lawsuit from publicity hounds.
If that is true, even without written contract, they should be reimbursed travel expenses for that trip since they took the trip to perform at the event. It is possible they were offered that and rejected it so they could sue for more and get more exposure.

It's also possible they were told there might be a chance for them to perform, but no guarantee.
That's the thing, there was no contract, so we don't know what they were told.
But even in their version, they were told they were getting no compensation and no travel expenses.
They admitted they were hoping for more exposure. Sounds like motive for a nonsense lawsuit.
Not if they were told that they wouldn't be, yet they showed up anyway.
If I walk in to a business, and wait on customers, the business is in no way obligated to pay me for the "work".
Good lord, the things liberals DON'T know about business is astounding.
They were told they were going to perform in Iowa. The Trump campaign canceled their appearance AFTER the troupe had booked flights and hotels. They didn't show up "anyway". The campaign created their expectations. Just as the campaign told them they would have a vendor space at the first venue. The campaign obligated itself to the troupe, and then failed to meet its obligations, even though the troupe met all the obligations it had to the campaign.
King of Lawsuits, Donald Trump is being sued by the little girls who mocked Jeb Bush and promoted Trump in his campaigns early in his primaries.
Con artist Trump has bilked hundreds if not more contractors and businesses over the years, now stiffs little girls over just a few thousands of dollars. Wonder if the girls still feel that Trump is their man anymore.
Man Bites Dog.
Let's not give this guy the keys to the White House.
Trump not paying workers...who would have thunk it? <sarcasm>
