Maybe. Or maybe not.
After this election the GOP is going to be looking for new potential candidates; most obviously, most of the ones the party presented this year just were not very acceptable to party members (or to the wider voting public either).

Some of their most likely future candidates never showed up this year at all, declining to run for lots of reasons. In 4 years, the Republicans will need someone with some favorability who appeals to both sides of their party, a person with legislative experience, and hopefully, experience as a leader.

Pence may see his run as VP as his entry pass into the big league, like Sarah Palin did. He's a lot smarter than Palin, though, and knows how Washington works much better. He has a balancing act to do until election day, but so far, I think he's done a pretty good job of supporting the guy who picked him while showing he's better suited temperamentally to the job than that guy.

It's increasingly apparent that Trump, if he wins, will be just as unpredictable in office as he is now. Pence had to show he's the temperate, predictable one of the duo, and he can assume the office if Trump somehow blows out and quits.

If Trump loses, those qualities will still serve him well if he as any higher ambitions. He probably will, after this campaign is over.

Hillary has yet to discuss this. I am sure her team will be coming up (catching up) with something......

Hillary came out with her childcare policy well over a year ago.

They are very late to the game.

she isn't discussing anything like this because she's not really interested in 'presidenting'. she just wants the title without the work involved. she wants the title so she can 'cash in' huge, its all financial with her, its just about the money, she can care less about america and americans.

Hillary has been talking about paid child leave and the expense of child care for years.

But you're right that Trump's (Ivanka's) proposal is straight off a Democrat wish list. It's fun to watch Republicans justify forcing employers to offer leave and giving people who don't even pay taxes a refund for child care.

Has he been pushing for health insurance for all Americans as well?

Fingers crossed.

I think Pence is happier than a pig in **** that he isn't tied to the disastrous Clinton campaign.

It's Kaine who is sweating it out. He is seeing his political future be destroyed by the Clintons. (just like everything else they touch)

Pence picked up a veep slot that the GOP establishment would just as soon left unfilled.

He won't be rewarded by the string pullers.

And, they also want pence to call david duke deplorable. bummer.

"Mr. Fortenberry told Mr. Pence that his young daughter had come to him and said, “Daddy, Donald Trump hates women,” according to one of the lawmakers....“It’s just not true,” Mr. Pence shot back, arguing that Mr. Trump was improving with women, the two House Republicans said."

Yeah, right. He's also selling a bridge.

"Mr. McCain said Mr. Trump’s embrace of the autocratic ruler was unacceptable, according to a Republican official present who also insisted on anonymity.Mr. Pence insisted that he and Mr. Trump were trying to belittle President Obama rather than to laud Mr. Putin."

Really? Should obama also say trump is "brilliant" and it will all be ok?

"Few Republicans want to confront thorny follow-up questions about Mr. Trump’s supporters, and fewer still want to make matters of race, gender and sexual orientation central to their campaigns. "

Can you say "poison"? For that is indeed what trump is doing to the republican party - poisoning it, perhaps beyond recovery.

Being Vice President is probably a pretty good gig.

Looks like you got this one wrong too. Bigly.

I'm sure that Pence is very very happy he didn't listen to the nonsense which you quoted and instead joined the Trump Train.

In fact he looked quite happy yesterday when he announce that Carrier would not be closing the plant and moving to Mexico.
