A gentleman would have honored his agreement, follow the church rules, and not put the minister in that position to start with.
He did the same thing in the Detroit church - asked to come as an observer only. Then when he got there, he pushed his way to the podium. That's not a gentleman, that's a boor.
In that case at least, the event was held off church property, in an adjacent building.
