Russia hasn't only hacked Hillary's e-mails. Like the Chinese, they've engaged in extensive economic and security system hacking.
The Chinese government seemingly have backed off after an ultimatum from the Obama administration, while the Russians have escalated their efforts, even targeting electoral systems.
I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling the election will not happen.
Most pathetic post I've read on C-D in quite a long time. You can't really be from Eire-- the Irish are too smart for that. The US election delayed? If it hasn't happened once in the last 116 years, it won't happen this November. Please come down to earth.

Maybe you should try educating yourself before you name call. In the event of civil unrest, terrorism, etc the US can and will be postponed/delayed.
Just because something never happened before doesn't mean it can't.
If you told people in NYC in 1999 the city will be attacked the WTC will be no more they would have thought you were crazy.

Your post is theater of the absurd. This is an election, not a terrorist attack. US elections have gone on as usual, in all 50 states, through two world wars, through Vietnam, through the civil rights movement, during race riots -- through chaotic years that were much more fraught for American society than 2001 (which was one terrorist attack on one city). Again, you need to come back down to earth-bound reality. More oxygen down there.
The hackers that hit the DNC used a Cyrillic (Russian alphabet) keyboard.
The time of attack was consistent with Russian time zone working hours.
Hacking work never done on Russian holidays.
IP addresses of servers that were used trace back to Russia.
Sophisticated malware left behind was professionally done, not a 19-year old amateur.
Hacking methods follow the same template as those done by Russia against NATO members and the MH-17 journalists.
How much more proof does anyone need?
A very primitive thinking of the russian hackers. They are so stupid. They couldn't used a QWERTY keyboard during alleged hacking attack. They couldn't do such important work at 3 AM of Moscow time, and they couldn't do it on russian holiday to cover their tracks. They... Oh, wait!
Maybe somebody else is so stupud, not they?

As Elliott_CA notes, hacking experts in the US, Canada, and across Europe believe it was the Russians -- the hacks have all the marks of state-directed Russian "workmanship," not Western.

Some security experts think the Russians are leaving their digital fingerprints behind on purpose as a psychological tactic to stoke fear, uncertainty and doubt. It's Russia's way of saying, "Don't mess with us or we'll take down your networks, your power plants, airports, etc." And as far as a psy-ops campaign to insert themselves in our election process, they've succeeded.

Not to mention that the election is already underway.

Maybe so, maybe not. Wouldn't part of the answer be to quit making it so damned easy to get in? I don't know, maybe not have a server outside the system in your basement or in a bathroom of some mom and pop shop?
Maybe working DefCon and hiring some of the dirtiest, sneakiest and smartest hackers and giving 'em whatever they want to work for US?
Maybe set up our absolute best net security and put up a $500k $1 million bounty for anyone who can get in with the caveat that they have to reveal how? THEN HIRE THEM?

I don't trust the US, EU and canadian "experts". I don't buy their "evidence". They are saying what they are told to say. They are lying to please their masters. I still remember the US intelligence service and "experts" were claiming that Saddam has WMD so that those villains in the WH could start ruining Iraq with this lousy "plausible pretext".
But Russia is not Iraq, Lybia, Afghanistan and Syria combined. Russia can respond very harshly and sternly to any american military provocation or agression towards Russia.
