He's a better debater than Trump. He's more substantive than Trump. He's a true conservative (unlike Trump). Polls showed him beating Clinton head-to-head (unlike Trump). He has less baggage than Trump. And he'd likely make the argument against Clinton better than Trump ever could.

So why did Republican voters choose Trump over Cruz? If you could do it all over again, would you still choose Trump?

"Republican" voters did not choose Trump over Cruz. The RWNJs hijacked the GOP and THEY chose Trump. Obvious now that most traditional Republicans don't support this guy. The Trumpists are correct when they point out that the Republican Party does not represent them. That's why they will need to form their own party.

I'm not a fan of Trump as a person or candidate but I do think he is more of an outsider than Cruz. Cruz tried to portray himself as an outsider, but I think Republicans sniffed out the falseness of that.

Plus, he is creepy in an ambiguous way.

But the polls showed Trump suffering a massive, crushing defeat against either Clinton or Sanders. Ted Cruz often cited this as a reason for making him the nominee. If these people wanted to stop Clinton, then why not vote for the man who was beating Clinton in head-to-head polls?

It's a sad, sad state of affairs when one party has gone so far off the rails that Ted freakin' Cruz is their 'reasonable' candidate ...

Say what you will, but Cruz is as true a conservative as they come. Unlike Trump, he has not said flattering things about Planned Parenthood. Unlike Trump, he was never a registered Democrat. And unlike Trump, he is a man who is truly about family values.

Bet he's never bragged about grabbing women's crotches, either.

The GOP primaries were all emotion--not a lot of rational though involved.
