I live in unincorporated Jefferson County, Colorado (Littleton address) and I completely agree with what you said. MOST of Denver metro is Democrat, but the rural part (except for the poor southern Colorado towns like Pueblo and Trinidad) is mostly Republican, and it would be hard to find a more reactionary town than Colorado Springs. In fact, I think I recall a short-lived movement about two or three years ago in the northwestern rural ranching and farming communities to secede from the state and possibly become part of Wyoming!
