No it's not but if Trump hadn't gone after Jeb!, he would would likely have been the Republican nominee.
I had assumed that Jeb Bush would be the Republican nominee this time. He certainly got the wind knocked out of his sails fast. There are also several others of that party I would have thought would end up with a better chance at the nomination. But somehow, the Republicans let them all slip away to their demises. They failed in their important job to be the necessary political counter-balance to the Democrats, sabotaged their own party and the rest of us, all in one unprecedented disaster, as the Yahoos of the Lunatic Fringe signed their Xs on their ballots.
It's a good move for Hillary to try to put up a facade of being a viable candidate to try keep the money flowing. As pointed out by others, she had the DNC clear the decks for her, she had the money, she had the organization, she had the media. Yet, she barely got by a socialist who isn't even a member of the Democratic party and had been previously viewed as an amusing crank from an insignificant state (no offense VT). She lucks into running against the most unpopular candidate the dysfunctional Republican party could drum up and still fails to seal the deal! No, the DNC will not go for another run by HRC.

That's it in a nutshell. I can tell you that I have some inside information to the effect that the apparent solid wall of DNC support for Hillary was nowhere NEAR as solid as it seemed. There were a LOT of influential democrats who did not want her anywhere near the nomination because they knew exactly where this was going to go, but they got frozen out by the Wasserman-Schultz cabal. That is NOT going to be allowed to happen again.
The deal was fleshed out in 08 and carved in stone in 12 - 2016 was her turn. But it was her one chance. She blew it, and the party will not touch her again with a 10-foot pole. She may take a run at it, but she won't make it past the second wave of primaries and caucuses. The backing will simply not be there, and nobody is sticking their neck out for her again.

Exactly. Democrats felt guilty in 2008, there was Bill saying "you can have both, you just need to decide who is at the top of the ticket". It was like watching family fight. It got uglier because when forced to choose, it was Obama we wanted but thought if Hilary is game next time then fine. This was her chance and that's it. I feel bad for her but we won't go through that again and it's time to move on. I want a fiery younger Democratic candidate that likes to use the GOP to floss his teeth and I'm sure he's out there.

This was obvious all the way back in '07. When she was a delegate campaigning in '07 there were nasty remarks made back and fourth between Clinton and Obama. Then when Obama gained enough pledges and super-delegates to become the presumptive nominee, she ended her campaign and threw her support behind Obama. The DNC obviously made the deal "look, get behind Obama this time and we'll find you a place in his cabinet then (assuming Obama looks good for another term in 2012) 2016 it's your turn.
Poor Bernie really felt "the Bern" - he didn't have a chance. Neither would anyone else for that matter.
As you said the deal goes back to the '08 election. This was "her time". Unfortunately for her she blew it.
And if she is deceased she can still vote for the Democratic nominee.
