It depends on what is meant by socialism. Social Democracy works very well in the Scandinavian countries.

It may be true that Social Democracy wouldn't work here in the USA. Unlike the Scandinavians, we are bitterly divided by race, religion, and even gender. We can't stand the thought of our tax dollars being used to benefit "those other people." The Democrat's obsession with "identity politics" since the 1960's hasn't helped.

Simple minds are simply amused.
It's true that there's no free lunch. I think most people realize that, even most "liberals."

I voted for Sanders. I couldn't get past the second paragraph of the article before realizing it wasn't worth the time.

That would be fine if he was a (D) but he claims he isn't.

Maybe I'm wrong, but to me he seemed to firmly and fully believe in his cause - complete opposite of most politicians who just say they believe it - and he envisioned a party that would come together...there's just too many videos of him speaking to an empty room, or just a few people in the room who get up and leave...
The empty rooms started after he started defending Hillary.

How long can you do that if you don't really care or believe what you're trying to sell? I feel a bit sorry for him because he finally had people listening to him, cheering him on, wanting to vote for him - but he got stabbed in the back while he tried to play nice.
Which goes to prove that you should never give up your principles for a party.

I'm a Sanders supporter but I voted for Clinton.

There is a lot of political wisdom in the article and you might want to reconsider reading at least item #2.

The hit pieces that the GOP and their PACS would have run on Sanders would have made the Hillary stuff seem like pre-school television shows.

So what would be the point? The (D)'s lose either way?

Sanders would have got every single vote Hillary did and the votes of his supporters that refused to vote for her.

Is that the wisdom where the writer tells a Sanders supporter to "Go f**k yourself" ?

The Movement continues.

Quote:
After his presidential run was sabotaged by his own party, Sanders has continued to support the Democrats, and even now, acts as the voice of hope in a country more divided than ever.

Sanders, who spoke in 46 states during his campaign, told Stephen Colbert, "I saw so many beautiful people ... especially young people ... Black and white and Latino and Asian-American and Native American. Incredibly beautiful people who want to make this country into the country that we know it can become."

Nope, I'm a Hillary supporter and I would have sat the election out, and I know some other people who would have done the same. In fact, lots of Obama supporters (namely blacks) sat this election out. Highly doubtful that blacks would have turned out for Sanders in the same numbers that they turned out for Hillary.

Pretty presumptuous.
Had Sanders won the nomination, the party would have thrown it's support to him, including the Obamas.
Plus we don't know who he would have picked for VP.

Sanderistas did better with people of color out west in Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Hawaii & among the Aboriginals (including Hawaii) than on the east coast.
