Because he is not a so called Adolf Hitler, Trump is more of a Ronald Reagan.

Nobody knows for sure, of course, but I think the Democratic party's leadership underestimated Bernie.
I'm pretty sure Bernie would have lost. He couldn't win the Democratic nomination.

They stay home because these young folks are technocrats...they are waiting for an app to vote...no app no vote. They date digitally...they are totally engulfed in the virtual world...the real world is boring.

Hillary had a lot of support from the party that he didn't. I'm not saying that necessarily made the difference, but it definitely was not a level playing field in terms of support from party leadership.

I agree, but Bernie was on the fringe of the electorate. I initially liked him, but didn't agree with his policies. Then he lost and endorsed Hillary and I lost respect of his convictions.

BTW, I felt almost the same when Trump signed the Republican pledge to support the nominee. It's not about the party, it's about the people.

why did young voters mostly stay home even when the media was saying Trump was the next Hitler?
Maybe they are becoming smarter and know that just because the media says something doesn't mean it's true? Maybe they did their own homework to find out who Clinton and Trump were?

It's a good thing that one is not manipulated by the media.
