That was all we heard the last four years. "America is getting more socially liberal- Republicans must evolve or die." Or "Republicans can't rely on a dying demographic- old white men." Or my favorite "The younger generation is liberal and they will never vote Republican" (Did it occur to people younger voters have always voted Democrat?).

The best one was "The electoral blue wall will make it next to impossible for a Republican win."

Was all the talk about changing demographics all nonsense?

Even with the outcome of this election, they STILL don't get it, as evidenced by the posts here. They try to blame it on the "uneducated," on rural people, on rednecks. No, that's not it. Yeah, I'm sure some uneducated, rural and redneck people voted for Trump. And some of those people voted for Hillary (especially uneducated, which from the statistics I have seen voted for Hillary by a larger percentage than Trump). The people I know who voted for Trump are educated, upper middle and upper class. Apparently a fair number of blacks and Hispanics also voted for Trump. It's obviously not a certain demographic, but people from all demographics who are just fed up with the status quo and want some REAL change this time, not Obama's version.

10% of Trump voters voted twice for Obama. Guess they didn't like that hopey/changey thing after all.

Hey, I spent years trying to tell these people that their analysis was waaaaaay off. But they didn't listen to me.
And the vaunted changing demographics didn't come through in Florida and had ungatz to do with Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. And that's that.

That's because they were too busy patting each other on the backs for being so much more righteous than the deplorables between the coasts

That quote is very true, but then DNC tried to challenge that by selecting Hillary as the nomination and found out that they could actually lose by picking someone people hate more than bigotry.

Correct. It was part complacency on the part of progressives and part electing a nominee who was very unlikable to both progressives and the public at large. Going against a candidate who energized all those opposed to abortion, gay marriage, the browning of the country, etc, while duping others into believing he'd create jobs which are never returning, it was enough to win the electoral college and keep the Senate red.

Actually, here is a very sober article written by a conservative Hispanic, about the Democratic Party's Multicultural obsession, and how it is creating harm to the country. Couldn't have written it better myself:

When the Left decides to hit the pause button on its current massive freak-out about how this election was a “whitelash” against the “browning” of America, it should ask itself some hard questions. Sound liberal minds may want to ask, for example, if the angst that roiled the country had to do with immigrants per se or with the balkanization our leaders have been promoting.

The Left Needs To Get Over Multiculturalism After This Election

Divide and conquer only works well if you don't get any deeper into fractions than 1/2.

Multiculturalism without assimilation is never going to work.
Should the democrat party fail to learn that lesson they will continue to fail.
