Many Republicans vote on behalf of the country they live in, even when it is (immediately) against their self interests, knowing that in the long term it may be in their best interest.
It's called putting off immediate gratification for your long term benefit. I just saw a Stossel program where they showed, through studies, that children who learned to wait for gratification turned out to be more successful.
Yeah, thats why as 40 years of rapid decline of the middle class, busted unions and tens of millions of jobs shipped abroad, the people who voted for the economic establishment and the puppets of the donor class are STILL waiting.

I keep hearing that trickle down and more tax cuts for the "job creators" are just about to make us all rich.
They just need another bailout or two, more tax cuts, some added corporate welfare, and deregulation.
Why not be honest and include this idea and information in your link ? Answer : Fearmongering "This is not anywhere close to a final plan," Williams said.
Kyle Pomerlau, director of federal projects at the conservative Tax Foundation, noted that House Speaker Paul Ryan's own tax-cut proposal is similar to Trump's but wouldn't raise taxes on single-parent families. In theory, the two plans could be melded, and Trump's elimination of the head of household status could be dropped.
But leaving the head of household filing status and personal exemptions intact would lower tax revenue by $2.1 trillion over the next decade, the Tax Policy Center says.
Trump's advisers deny that he will raise taxes on middle-income Americans but don't provide details. Previously, the campaign suggested that Trump would broadly instruct Congress to avoid raising taxes on lower- and middle-income workers.
Of course it isn't the 'final plan'... but, that it starts out so unequal says a whole lot about the concern behind it. Right? That the plan gives gazillions to the big guys, and punished mostly women, who are more likely than men to be head of household, and families... is indicative of where trump's priority really lies. And, that his campaign promises are the same... really lies.

First off, this isn't cookies that people are waiting for. It is money in their pockets. Guess the people who voted for Reagan and the failed trickle down theory are still waiting for that delayed gratification. Wonder how much longer they'll continue to wait for the 'long term benefit' that never seems to come for them, only for those who are already well off? And, the same people who like trickle down seem to think that the opposition is stoopid for seeing through that little scam.
No we have not. They will be negotiated with Congress yet. I don't hear you complain about the doubling of trillion of debt under Obama.
The debt increases under Obama were due to many issues including a bad economy, it has improved but still not where it should be. Keep in mind that controls spending, so blame them for the deficits, not Obama. Ever heard of a significant reduction in spending the last 8 years, no.
Yes it will of course it will be negotiated but decreasing taxes and increasing spending is a recipe to for even greater deficits, that is a self inflicted wound. Really not much different than back in the 80's everyone loves a tax decrease but spending cuts are the hard part. We ran record deficits in the 1980's with the exact same philosophy.
