I am very concerned about what is now becoming a trend. Namely, that DT can spout untruths and just get away with it. The most recent example is the bogus claim that millions of people voted illegally without any proof or evidence. Which he doesn't have and will never produce.

I fear that if this continues and he is allowed to continue to get away with it, our political system is going to devolve into an even worse mess than we have now.

He needs to stop it, but sure he won't, so the press is going to have to get a lot tougher on this nonsense and start calling him out. He's a President not a King and no doubt if BO had done this Repub and alt right heads would be exploding.

I read a very good article on Politico about how journalists need to begin covering Trump moving forward. They need to stop taking the bait and go after the story rather than get distracted by his very obvious lies. When he lies so obviously, they can say, yeah, that's a lie, but not waste too much time on it, instead focusing on the larger issues regarding Trump. They need to be relentless on the bigger story and ignore Trump's immature Twittertantrums. He's 70, he's not going to mature so let the world see him as he is and focus on the big issues and leave the world to laugh at the rest.

As for the comparisons to President Obama, we've seen the hypocrisy in full bloom with the costs associated with security around Trump. It is now estimated to be an eye-watering $3 million dollars a day and Trump isn't even in office. Fox News and right wing radio screamed about the $70 million spent on President Obama over seven years. They called Michelle Obama "Mooch". That same $70 million wouldn't cover a single month of Trump. Not one single month. Do you see any outrage? Nope. Republicans are completely silent. And I doubt we will see them calling Trump's wife Mooch either.

Most of the mainstream news reports on it that I have seen clearly said his claim was false and is sourced from conspiracy theories that have been thoroughly debunked. So I would say they are getting a bit better at calling out his falsehoods.

Trump lies about details average Americans care less about. The Democrats lie about big issues like Islamic terrorism and illegal immigration.

Well hes no different than any of the career politicians. What are we to do? You just have to take the lesser of the evils.

At least Trump wants to bring business back to the U.S and not turn us into a globalized 3rd world craphole that the democrats are intent on bringing us to. Thats pretty much all I care about after 8 years of Socialism

There isn't exactly a whole lot to choose from these days.

Except he knows when he's lying, he does it to distract. Yesterday the New York Times came out with an extensive article on all of Trump's conflicts of interest and how he could potentially use the presidency to personally profit. What does he do? Makes a bunch of easily debunked claims to distract. The press needs to stop chasing the shiny ball and focus on the bigger story. It's fine, they have four years to get it right but they need to focus and ignore the distractions.

I've been saying this for many months. Every authoritarian figure in history has 4 things in common: (1) They blame their country's problems on some minority group(s), (2) they tell lie after lie to get their supporters all riled up,(3) they were hugely popular in their countries, and (4) their supporters didn't care they lied with obvious lies.

Trump exerts all 4 traits. But whatever. He won the election. There's nothing we can do about it now. My partner and I are keeping our heads low for the next 4 years.

That said, I can see one positive coming out of Trump getting elected. Perhaps he is unorthodox enough to finally tell us all the classified info regarding aliens, if any.

so wait, we have had candidates and president lie to the american people regularly over the decades, but NOW you are concerned about trump possibly lying? get real my friend, this has been the way of the political world for many decades. but for recent presidential lies, remember these?

i did not have sex with that women, ms lewinski

i looked it up in the bible and found that oral sex isnt sex

if you like your doctor you can keep him

if you like your insurance you can keep it

you will save $2500 per year on your insurance

these are just a few of the numerous lies told by presidents, and candidates and their flunkies. not to mention the lies told by the media, which were basically clinton campaign ads.

I would rather be lied to by a republican than these elitist democrats. They do more damage to the American worker with their policies.
