Big clap of the hands for the first guy who seems to have come up with that. That really does bear thinking about.

Let's split the country into two. Clintonland gets that 64% of GDP, and Trumpland gets the 36%.

Fair?
So the red states with the largest percent of the military recruitment and military veterans, energy and natural resources, ports, agriculture etc dont figure into economic "output" . The massive concentration of energy resources ,ports, agriculture and military in red states are certainly going to come into play. Certainly places like Manhattan and Hollywood and suburbs around DC could be replaced with red state media and financial capitals in red states, red state university power and corporations replacing Manhattan, Hollywood, the ivy league and the District of columbia

How do you replace red state regional resources and energy, agriculture, military, law enforcement and basically American masculinity, not to mention the ports and all that the red states provide america.

What is blue america? media and financial power and a very regional academic power in the northeast (ivy league), even silicon valley could be replaced with new tech opportunities for red states. There is nothing in blue states that couldn't be replaced easily with the same powers in red states , its not something inherent like natural resources

Blue america is coastal California,Manhattan, government dependent suburbs around dc,a few cities and areas like seattle and portland , the black belt in the south and Hispanic new mexico and southwest and colorado, heavily minority south texas and south florida and parts of the northeast and a few reliably midwestern blue places like Minnesota, which even barely stayed blue this year.

Many of the so called blue "states" are just blue cities and metros are surrounded by overwhelmingly red counties like the pacific northwest, maryland, virginia, etc. How do you build a country around minority votes and urban hipsters and some rich blue cities. A blue nation looks absurd

Trump won. And that is the end of the story.

We can't and should not go our "own separate ways" because we are the United States of America.

sounds like lots of work....I like the idea of just shutting off their power and light and letting the starve for a few months then steam rolling them into mush with our mighty Army.....Then again it doesn't matter a bit 'cause the Election is over and Trump won....

It would be better if you liberals would realize you're part of the problem and not part of the solution.

You worship a washed-up demagogue has-been in bad pantsuits. She lost, you lost. Somebody has to clean up the mess and it isn't going to be you guys.

I agree it would be alot of work but it makes no sense why so much of the media and financial power is concentrated in places like manhattan and hollywood which are so different than the rest of the united states. I am sick of turning on the tv and all I ever see is some liberal from manhattan or la that holds flyouver country in contempt. The Media and financial centers in a few blue counties can easily be replaced by red states and red counties. The energy and natural resources, ports, agriculture the military etc cant be replaced as easily by these ridiculous blue splotches on the map.

We are also seeing close to 1,000 people a day relocate to red states, almost every red state is growing while most blue states have stagnant or non existent growth. At some point people in the red states need to look at this concentration of power in places that dont represent them, or even like them very much

Very few folks are moving to cold-weather red states. Maybe North Dakota because of oil, but even that may diminish.

Cold weather blue states like Washington, Colorado, and Oregon are gaining folks at a rapid clip.

Why do they allow themselves to be surrounded by millions of do-nothing Democrats such as myself? I ain't stopping them from leaving.
Because it's hard to do big business in rural areas. These cities were originally built where all the ports were. They grew into big business centers, which drew in millions of unskilled workers or people that couldn't hack it without the state. While they create an environment for ghettos, they also still create an environment for big business to be conducted. These places aren't just blue because of the trash either. The people that make these cities work can be moderately too. I'm just pointing out that it's the trash that makes most large metros solid blue.

The reason rich republicans will live in places like CA, is because if you got the money to shield yourself from the BS, CA is actually a really nice place.

They're gaining people that are escaping divers blue states. Eventually, their politics will destroy these areas, and they'll move on like locusts. OR and WA will be CA with crap weather in 20 years. These "open minded" people will suddenly find themselves surrounded by diversity and jump ship.

I live in Seattle WA.............The most closeted racist city on EARTH. The people up here are just as racist as the people in my home town of San Antonio, they just don't know it. They love diversity, as long as it's Asian or it's not in their backyard.
