I recently read a biography of Berkeley physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who flirted with the communist party throughout the 1930s. At that time, American "intellectuals" were more likely to be communist than not, just as they are now much more likely to be Left-leaning than not.

No, I am not wrong. But I don't have time to argue about history. However, even if someone is "left-leaning" or has unpopular political beliefs, they are protected by the First Amendment. I am familiar with Robert Oppenheimer and he never broke the law. He invited guests to his home who often discussed communist ideology, if that's what you mean by "flirting." If I want to have a meeting with a group of people who have radical ideas, that's my right as a citizen of the United States.

Only the cross in the White House chapel will remain for worship. Jim Mergernerlerny, head of the team that will transform the White House from the Obama’s home to the Trump’s second home, told MSNBC:
“Mr. Trump doesn’t see the need to provide prayer rugs and false idols is a house built by Christians. Washington DC offers a diverse cultural center for worship of any kind. You won’t find any special considerations for Judaism or crucifixes to appease Catholics, either. There is a simple chapel with a single cross on one wall that is suitable for prayer by anyone. Our government doesn’t need to be forcing prayer rituals down people’s throats just so we don’t ‘offend’ people looking to blow us up.”

Being a communist should not have been a crime, they destroyed many innocent peoples lives with their witch hunt. They sold fear to the American Public and that kept them going until the last hearing with the little old lady. They were interrogating her for being a communist, she replied that she didn't even know what a communist was, that was the beginning of the end and we came to our senses.

There were communist spies in this country. That's how the Soviet Union got the nuclear bomb.
The communists were -- and continue to be -- subversive traitors to America, and they should be investigated.
Right now, they are poisoning the minds of Americans -- particular our youth -- with their dominance of the media, Hollywood and our universities.
Yes you have the right to be a communist, and yes, we have the right to investigate you, expose your motives and errors, and root you out of our culture.
