The most populous states have done enough to make their states very desirable to live in (i.e. cultural values, economic policies, out-of-the-box thinking). You're penalizing the fact that people want to move there by reducing the power of each person's vote? How backwards sounding is that in the face of democracy.

Highest illegal alien population also! Estimated illegal immigrant population, by state, 2014 | Pew Research Center First, we need to institute voter ID like in our state: Got Voter ID? • S.A.F.E. Act • Kansas Secretary of State Kris W. Kobach Until we institute voter ID and find a way to stop or greatly hinder voter fraud, nothing should change at all when it comes to voting.

so if every single Illegal alien in California voted, Trump would have still lost the state by 2 million votes, and still lost the populate by 1 million, LOL

Desirable for whom? The "makers" or the "takers"? New York where I came from has already lost 2 congressional seats and 18 electoral votes since the last census due to out migration which continues to this day. Many of the people who are moving to these states are illegal invaders which explains whatever population growth these states have experienced. Especially in California which offers sanctuary to those invaders along with New York and Illinois.

Quote:
Here are the top 3 states “Americans are fleeing,” according to the list compiled by Real Clear Politics:

1.New York, as usual, was a wasteland in the analysis. The Empire State has led the nation in domestic out-migration since the late 1990s. The New York Post reported in 2011 that “62 percent of New Yorkers planning to leave cited economic factors — including cost of living (30 percent), taxes (19 percent) and the job environment (10 percent) — as the main reasons.”

2.According to IllinoisPolicy.org, residents have left the state at a rate of one person every 10 minutes for the last 15 years. Taxes, corruption and housing prices, all have had Illinois losing on a net basis for years, but more than 806,000 people made up their out-migration between 1995 and 2009.

3.According to the Los Angeles Times, the decade measured by the most recent census was the first in a century in which the majority of Californians were native-born, reflecting the state’s transition from a place many Americans are drawn to into a place many prefer to leave. Driven away by high home prices during the housing bubble, enormously high taxes of all kinds, and a deteriorating jobs market, Californians have steadily been leaving for other states for most of the last decade.

The reason for the electoral college is so the president represents all of the states, and not just those which have the largest populations. As witnessed by this last election the majority of states do not reflect the views of the Democratic Party. The Democrats now have the lowest amount of control over the majority of state legislatures along with governorships. They are also the minority party in both the senate and congress. It's circumstances such as this as to why we have an electoral college. Otherwise we would have a dictatorship of which New York, California and Illinois would control. As Ben Franklin once said: "A democracy is where you have two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner".

This country was founded as a "Constitutional Republic" and not a "Democracy". There is a big difference and for good reason.

Great points! It sure could especially in states where the illegal invaders can easily obtain valid identification such as a drivers license or social security card. Especially in those states that have already been declared sanctuary states.

Obama amnesty granted 500000 Social Security numbers to illegals
This story is no longer available - Washington Times...
Apr 15, 2015 ... Obama amnesty granted 500,000 Social Security numbers to illegal immigrants ... that getting a Social Security number entitles illegal immigrants to go back and ... which they can then use to obtain a Social Security number.
Thank God that in six and one half days Obama will finally be out of office.

Our Founding Fathers realized how dangerous it was to have a popular vote elected President which could lead to such poor Presidents as Algore & Hitlary.....they were brilliant to defeat Demcorats from the grave...bravo!

Lincoln got the "by the people" bit wrong in his famous address . Although "by the electoral college", wouldn't make for a catchy quotation, even if it is true.

It kills me that for an entire year leading up to the election, all we heard from the news outlets was: "The Path to 270", over and over. All of them in the tank for Clinton, showing how she had it in the bag, the 270 electoral votes. You never heard: "The Path to Winning the Popular Vote". Not once. Now they won't shut the hell up about it.

Because the person who wins 270 usually wins the popular vote. When it doesnt happen, it shows a disconnect.
