That should have been tens of thousands of dollars. And millions? Sure. Lifetime average self-employed income of $1.5 million for 35 years.

$1.5 million ☓ 2.9% ☓ 35 = $1.5225 million.

I'm wasting my time when you refuse to read and just parrot yourself. You obviously were correct about the education thing though it would seem.

No there wouldn't. We aren't going to full scale riot over providing people with access to health care. Your fantasies aside.

Seriously? When people get wind of the fact that they've had to pre-pay tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even sometimes millions of dollars without getting reimbursed for what others can get without forking over that same kind of $$$$$ buy-in, it won't be pretty.

Most people have at least a smidgen of compassion for others. Most people.

Really? How about we charge YOU $1.5 million upfront before you can buy the same insurance everyone else can get without first paying that $1.5 million. Would you pay the $1.5 million out of "compassion?"

I doubt it. You're constantly whining about "Wall Street, Wall Street, " but greedily WON'T refuse your pension check, which of course, can only be paid if your pension plan's investments are profitable.

Good grief! Financial illiteracy is FAR too widespread, and the bane of our society. /SMH

Here are more facts to ponder for the financially illiterate...

Health insurance, life insurance, auto insurance, homeowner's insurance, etc., companies don't just collect premiums and redistribute them to pay claims. They, too, have investments which yield enough gains to keep premiums/deductibles where they are. If not for those investments producing gains, premiums and deductibles would be MUCH higher than they are.

Likewise, it takes capital provided by investors to fund mortgages, car loans, student loans, consumer debt, etc., etc. Even our National Debt is financed by investors who've risked their own wealth to provide capital.
