That's Newt Gingrich's old seat -- too close for comfort.
Just think of all the other districts were there isn't a stronghold that went Republican last vote....hmmmmmmm they are deeply at risk.
So no it isn't a big win -- but it's making Republicans nervous. When was the last time a rookie President dealing with things like Syria, Iran, etc.....took the time to get involved and campaign against a candidate.....
Of course if the Democrat loses, it is all because Trump is so great right?
Georgia has always been blue... up till the late 90's
every senator for Georgia was democrat from 1870-late 1990's
as far as the house of reps they have always been a majority democrat, with only a few republicans ever having seats (newt being one of the few)
as far as state level:there have been 40 governors since 1865...of those only 3 have been republican...all others (37) democrat
the democrats have controlled Georgia legislature for the last 150 years up until 2005
you would not look so foolish, if you posted facts instead of opinions

Speaking of facts, it was 49-51 (48.89-51.01 if you want to get super technical) and the point was about the district. This particular suburban Atlanta district moved Republican long before the rest of the state did. Fact of the matter is we have a toss-up run-off in a district that has been in Republican hands for almost 40 years that Romney won by 23 points.

And the best you could do was lose. Better send another $8M!
As a near-local resident from the adjoining 11th district, I don't think Ossoff is going to beat Handel in the runoff assuming she campaigns competently over the next few months. However, I expect he should get close to the 48% of the vote he earned last week, and that does represent long-term progress for Democrats given they typically lose by landslide margins in this district.
It could be a warning sign for Republicans in similar relatively purple districts, but there are no guarantees. Perhaps like many posters in this forum, the majority of voters are so appalled by the Democrats' agenda and emphasis on what they consider fringe issues that there is no interest in imposing much of a check on the current party in power. Time will tell what happens.
What fringe issues has Ossoff spoken on? He comes off sober and moderate.
(I'm a voter in the 6th district)
I don't know. They have to be running Carpetbagger ads in Georgia, right? Who would vote for some guy to represent your district but who never lived there?
The very exclusive private school, that none of the poor, urban, disadvantaged can ever dream of attending, is not in the same House district. Georgetown U is in DC. He worked in Washington. Etc., etc., etc. To say he grew up 'here' is a typical s t r e t c h of the truth by the Democrat party.

People can go to school in another district especially if its close. He grew up and his parents still live in Northlake, which is in the district
