This kind of hypocrisy is why we have Trump as president.
I will point out that what Obama did was take part in a general fundraising event for the Democratic Party. Mr. Trump's event was a fundraiser for his 2020 re-election campaign, so there is a bit of a technical difference. And, of course, Mr. Trump has participated in various fundraising events for Republicans, like that woman from Georgia in April 2017:

Anyway, ignoring for the moment the propriety of using his own hotel for the event, I imagine part of the reason for the event yesterday is to keep good relations with the RNC, since it is my understanding that half of the amount raised went to them, while the other half went to Trump's 2020 campaign.
