I think I figured out what the Democrats are after: turning Florida, already weak from open borders, blue. If they could get the governorship there and flip the legislature, it would be almost certainly fatal for the GOP's long term future (not to mention America's future.) The Democrats aren't going to get their assault weapon bans passed through Congress. It's just Democrats pushing it so far there.

What they can do is get turnout and try and flip the governorship, they can implement stuff like McAwful did when he took VA in 2014, letting illegals and felons vote. That would mean that they could have Florida in 2020 which almost certainly gives the Democrats the White House.

Then, once they flip that, they can use the White House (and perhaps the Congress, which would be in danger too) to just rule like Castro and take away our guns with their courts, etc.

For the November 2018 elect there is already an amendment on the Florida ballot which will restore voting rights for felons after they serve their time. It's amendment 4. I plan to vote Yes.

Amendment to restore felons

Florida is a big prize for the Leftists.
Will they be able to convince people that the Kids were murdered because of Evil Guns?
OR will the voters understand it was LEFTIST policy that killed them?

Time will tell.

Florida is a big prize for both parties. It went blue in 2008 and 2012, so it's not a given for the GOP.

And it's not only going to be about guns. Don't forget about the 200,000+ Puerto Ricans who moved to Florida following the hurricane last year.

Considering Florida has more registered Democrats than Republicans it's surprising the state isn't blue by now.

As of January 31, 2018 :

Democrats: 4,810,909 -
Republicans: 4,550,556
---------------------------------
= 260,353 more registered Dems.

Source: Voter Registration - By Party Affiliation - Division of Elections - Florida Department of State

What keeps Florida in play for the GOP is that there is also a large Independent voter base as well with 3,462,735 registered voters with no party affiliation.

However after more than 300,000 Puerto Ricans moved to the state after Hurricane Maria and Trump's mismanagement of the situation on the island the GOP has a rough road ahead in this state.

Florida will eventually be blue.

Voter registration doesn't dictate always dictate voting habits. North Florida for example tends to vote more Republican than voter registration #'s would suggest, south Florida tends to vote more Democratic than voting registration #'s would suggest.

True but my point was the Independents will swing Florida in either direction.
Trump barely won the state with a little over 1% over Hillary.

Why would anyone in Florida vote Dem after the Dems messed up so badly in Broward with Cruz, their utterly ridiculous SJW "Promise Program" that keeps teen criminals OUT of the justice system, and the 17 people he killed because he could buy a gun having no criminal record?

One would have to have a death wish for themselves and/or their children to vote Dem.

Scares you a little, huh ? I live in Florida, and it is largely an older population (I am one of them). Generally, older people here tend to be conservative Republicans. However, we are dying off, and younger people are starting to become a factor in elections. They tend to vote with their heads rather than just simply blindly follow party lines.

The days of hard nosed, "conservative" Governors here, like Rick Scott, are beginning to end. Now that he has his eye on the Senate, even Scott is starting to act more "liberal". But we, who have known what the real Rick Scott is like inside, know it is just an act.

Your side always paints things that it is those horrible illegals who we get to vote, but that is simply garbage. The GOP has been their own worst enemy, and letting a clown like Trump lead them has done serious damage to their base and reputation.

Or you could say with the easy availability of guns in Florida and the lack of really effective social services, including psychiatric care, that the outcome of what happened was almost a given. How much more money will Trump be sending to Florida for low-income mental health care? Not a penny more! Congress, given its current leadership, will want to funnel more to the corporations and less to social services and Trump will sign it! So don't be surprised when another shooting happens in the Sunshine State! Mar-A-Lago will be replaced by More-a-Slaughter coming to another Florida school! MAGA ...Making America Grieve Again!
