None of the other Republicans running are well known or have any $$$, Blackburn is basically a shoe-in for the Primary.

It looks to be an interesting election. Blackburn is shoulder to shoulder with Trump and will constantly screech that Bredesen is actually Obama/Pelosi/Hillary in disguise. Bredesen is a popular former governor who is looked on as a moderate candidate who would spend his time as senator doing the job, not Trump bashing.

Rural areas should break heavily for Blackburn; other areas will be more amenable to Bredesen. Tennessee is changing; lots of people from different parts of the country are moving here. It may be a red state, but the shade of red is not as deep as it used to be.

I personally would not be comfortable voting for Blackburn and the vibes I get around here are that a lot of people are not exactly thrilled with her as a candidate. Just my opinion after living here for a year in Middle Tennessee

Or how strident and obnoxious she is every times she opens her mouth. Thought she was supposed to be a shoe-in a few months ago.

If she loses, does that mean we will never have to hear that witch blather on again?

The MTSU poll also found Bredesen had a considerable advantage over Blackburn in terms of getting support from voters on the other side of the aisle.

The political makeup of the poll's respondents included 34 percent Republicans, 25 percent Democrats and 28 percent independents, with another 8 percent choosing "other."

The Democrat leading the Republican in Tennessee, in a poll that surveyed more Republicans than Democrats.

Is this is one of those supposedly "safe" seats for the GOP?
No shock. Bredesen was wildly popular, 16 years as Nashville mayor plus Tn gov, and for most years terrific economic growth.

Bredesen is an old fashioned normal Democrat who dropped TennCare rolls by over 1 million, a move he championed. W/O asking Pelosi's approval.

Why would a state wide elected Democrat need Nancy Pelosi's approval for anything ? Do you not understand how political hiearchies work ?

Also, Tenncare rolls dropped because people got jobs under the great economy in his state.

Didn't bode well for GOP on Nov 6, 2016, either.
It came out OK.

Bredesen is fiscal conserve, so either way, this seat is fiscally conservative.

Blackburn and Bredesen are both long term politicians. Bredesen was Governor when my oldest was born almost 15 years ago.

No she's not. She does not agree with everything that Trump is pushing for. https://www.tennessean.com/story/new...act/411087002/
