Wasn't that the one in which the Dem candidate ran as pro-gun? I suppose Dems could win elections in GOP-held districts if they run on a pro-gun platform. Will they?

This is expected. These are people who may have held their nose and voted for Trump because they preferred him to Hillary, but never have been fully committed to the #MAGA cult. They are actually capable of thinking about this in a more profound way than "rah! rah! he's muh guy!" Trump is going to have a difficult time holding these voters in 2020.

Depends on who the Dem candidate is

Someone like Elizabeth Warren will keep them all on the Trump train

Are older white college grads becoming Dems because foreigners have taken their jobs and/or they've suffered age discrimination? They assume welfare is their future, sadly. Lot of them get hooked on opioids to dull their emotional pain of feeling pushed aside.

I guess this is why Trump supporters are counting on the Dems nominating a buffoon like Elizabeth Warren or Maxine Waters or Oprah.

Even if that happened, Trump faces an uphill battle and there could easily be a strong third-party candidate. I think you underestimate how much Trump is disliked outside of his base.

Attempting to scare the bejesus out of seniors by misrepresenting the Republicans has always been a tactic of the Dems. Nothing new there.
Except that the tax cut isn't that popular among the lower 90%.
