I'm 55 years old and West Virginia elected their first republican senator in my lifetime in 2014.IIRC we've had two republicans elected governor in my lifetime,the current idiot doesn't count since he was a democrat when he got elected and I wish he'd switch back.

Manchin was a very popular governor who has annoyed many people by saying one thing but then voting nearly always with Chuck Schumer in the senate.Its amazing that the race is even considered competitive,no one nationally has ever even paid attention to the republican senate primary before.

While republican presidential candidates have often had success in the state other republicans haven't usually fared too well until the last 4-6 years.I think in the end Manchin will be reelected,its still an uphill climb for any republican to win statewide.
